I finally got around to replacing all my interior bulbs with my LED set which I have used in two previous cars, but I am stumped by the rear dome light as it's an odd size festoon bulb. My previous cars had larger festoons bulbs in the roof but the Prius seems to be very short at 29mm if my measurements are correct. I have looked online and most of the ones on eBay or Amazon for that size are a cylindrical fuse type fitting and not the pointed end type. Has anyone successfully bought the right size or have you bought a slightly larger size and squeezed it in? I have found one online but it was about £15 plus postage. Thanks
I got this one: DE3022 CAN Bus LED Bulb - 18 SMD LED Festoon - 31mm | Dome Light Bulb | Interior LED Bulbs | LED Lights | Super Bright LEDs. Not sure if they ship to UK though (nor how much that would cost)
That's interesting that you got a 31mm and that fitted OK. I think there is more choice with 31mm so I will have a look again. Thank you
I found the choice very limited so I had a strip of 12v warm white led's with adhesive backs that allowed cutting every three led's. I soldered two strips of these to an old 30mm led using short wires. Pushed the 30mm bulb up to check I had the correct polarity and stuck the two strips either side on the lamp housing. The cover fits over no problem. I prefer the better spread of light. They look better when they are properly lined up Some people would prefer the cool white, but I find those too harsh inside. You can buy the strips prewired for model making. The bigger square ones look better and brighter.
The choice definitely isn't limited, there are hundreds of DE3175 festoon LED bulbs for the dome light. The metal tab inside the dome light can be bent back a little to properly fit up to 31mm bulbs.
