Is this a function in the Prius Prime? If it is, does anyone use it? Is it worth getting and iPhone? I'm assuming the new Google Assistant with my Android can't work? Why is there a Qi charger compatable with an IPhone? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
It works well, it isn't super fast but I can hear a message if I need to and respond to it. Only needing to push one button for a few seconds.
My iPhone connects to my PiP via bluetooth and, if I want to make a hands free call, I just press and hold the home button for a few seconds till Siri comes on and say call so-and-so. Or "send a text to ..." and dictate the text. If I'm not mistaken, I can do the same with the phone controls on the steering wheel. I assume the Prime is even more competent.
Anything is worth getting an iPhone for! I strongly doubt Google will work with it. There are compatible charging cases that are built for iPhone. You hold the phone pick-up button for a few seconds to use siri, which I find works better than built-in car voice commands.
Re: a compatible Qi case, see my post here: Confirmed: iPhone Qi case that works with Prime's charging pad | PriusChat Still working great. That said, you might want to wait for the iPhone 8 in a few weeks. It will have Qi compatibility built in.
So then, which button on the P.Prime? I think I recall that "hey Siri" worked while plugged in through USB. iPhone ? Pro
Dang. Holding that button very much doesn't trigger Google Assistant on my Android phone. (Nor do any of the others in that cluster) I guess I'm just stuck yelling at the thing half a dozen times each time I want its attention when there is road/weather noise? Are there any better options?
