    Hey Guys,

My navigation disc is 11yrs old and cannot even locate my own house. I need the newest version for a 2006 Prius. I read in several forums that the discs are year specific, in that, although Gen II Prius are between 2004-2009, the disc may not work in all of them.

Anybody has 2006 Prius Navigation Disc to sell or to make duplicate copy of his version and sell to me? I was at the dealership (killership) and they told me they have to order it and the damage to my pocket is $200.00

I cannot imagine spending that much on a disc. Tomtom or Garmin Navigation units can be found below $80.00 so why spend that much on disc?

If anybody has idea of where to get one cheaper or has one to sell, kindly hit me here.

    Thanks guys!

Although they're cheaper on Ebay, beware of those and other copies. There are problems with the car's ability to read a pirated disc. One option is to see if you can pick up a newer "old" disc from someone who shelled out for a new one.

We settled on a nice Garmin unit with lifetime maps and traffic for $80. Puchased it from a closeout store that dealt with Costco. We use the suction cup mount and put it on the closed lid of a center console cup holder. Much better navigation unit than Toyota's and much easier to use. One less screen cluttering up the MFD.

I have the entire unit that goes under the seat, with the disc. It's from a wrecked 2008

Is the disc a fairly recent version?

I would think it's the 2008 version or later. I never looked at it

    Hi JC91006,

I wonder if it will fit 2006 model. Is it possible that you try it with a 2006 model to see if it works? I am highly interested.

I dont know why Toyota has to put the navigation on disc and not in the system for easy upgrade and other stuffs.

    Thanks guys!

    I don't have a 2006 model with navigation.

I also don't know how to remove the disc from the unit to see what year it's from, it's already out of the car

first, you need to remove your disc to see which version it is. then look for a newer version of the same disc. this disc I think was from my 05 labeled u40; I believe the updated disc I got from ebay was u43. prius20150523_141124.jpg

    Jc91006,
I wonder if the 2008 unit will fit my 2006 model. Looks like they don't go with the same disc compared to the regular parts.

    Thanks.

I'm not really sure if they'll be interchangeable, you can try if you want. My guess is it'll be the same

Have you thought about the yards where you pull your own parts, the yard I go to will sell me stuff like that for like$1-2.Might be worth checking out and good luck.

That's what I was thinking too,I don't see them changing discs for different cars but you never know. I figure if someone is going to try this just take a picture of the disc you need and make sure it's the same.
