Do You Wave at Your Fellow Prime Owners?

wait, what? you've seen Primes in the wild?

 

I couldn't believe it! I saw another Prime Titanium on the 10 freeway today heading east. Unfortunately this bozo like the other bozo with the Titanium Prime from Longo Toyota (the same dealership where I bought mine) didn't see me while I was waving and honking like an idiot!
These people out here are from another planet!!. When I had my Alfa Romeos, we were always aware of other Alfa Romeo owners who were also equally excited about seeing an Alfa Romeo on the road! But these Prime owners here demonstrate why you folks have had a low turnout at your Prius events: these folks are just not car enthusiasts! , bozos!! You guys on this forum on the other hand, are car nuts, Primeholics! How brilliant!

I see them around here now and then and I was in Burbank shopping and I saw a Prime but it already had plates and was parked.. liked how it looked too.

I ride a Harley too, and waving, the two finger salute is very c'mon.

 

Saw a brand new Prime pulled over in shady residential street I was walking along the other afternoon... was going to say hello, but the driver was on the phone very much into his conversation so I just kept going. Otherwise, I would have said hi..

 

I wouldn't ever wave at another driver while driving no matter what their ride is. I just find the practice weird. That said, if I see a customer with a Prime loading their groceries in our parking lot (I work at a rather upscale food store), I'll probably ask them how they like their new Prime. We'd be a minority, as there are usually two to three Teslas parked at any given time in the lot. Two Model X's today next to each other in fact.

 

Saw a Prime Titanium on the road this morning on Hwy. 35 in Wall Twp. I was approaching a red light and stopped to let him in front of me as he was coming off the on ramp. I flashed the lights a few times but no response. I drove behind him for a little while (Prime caravan?), then he went too fast for me. That was only my second Prime sighting in 4 months.

Prius not acknowledging other Prius has been a thing discussed since as long as we've owned them, Oct 2005. It also applies to other hybrids including the Insights and hybrid Civics. Yet curiously I've had one person in a pickup truck yell at our BMW i3-REx,"Your car is ugly!" which was more a surprise than anything else.

Now the one road behavior I've noticed is the degree non-hybrids tailgate me. It used to bother me until I noticed that they will tailgate the next car. Since then I've realized tailgating is just their driving style.

As for 'road rage,' not a whole lot we can do about it. My usual practice is to keep my distance from such folks as nothing good can come of it. I put headlight flashers in the low intensity, road rage drivers. As for high-beams on at night, I adjust the rear view mirror and drive normally.

I definitely would if I ever saw one! i did timidly wave when I passed a Tesla yesterday. I can imagine him doing an Anderson Cooper-esque eye roll.

 

Have seen three Primes "in the wild." There is a silver one that goes up 295 that I see when I am early for work. Last week, I gave a honk as I passed him and then moved to the right lane, where he followed me (I assume we both had our cruise control set for the speed limit) for about 10 miles until I got off the highway.

 

Prius Primes, Prius Primes everywhere and not a one will wave!!, (apologies to Sam T. Coleridge!), har, har!

Motorcyclists? yeah, i pretty much wave to them all.. or the head bob if my hands busy working the clutch.

 

Actually we Alfaholics did it all the time back when I had my 3 '69s. Almost every single time, the wave or horn toot elicited a positive response! . Is the younger generation absent car enthusiasts??

Man there sure are a lot of us out here in Southern California! (relatively speaking of course!!). One of us should establish PPOSC, (Prius Prime Owners of Southern California= pronounced: Posh?). Now who could be conned into doing that??!!

If I ever see another Prime I will wave but they are few and far between in the Chicagoland area (haven't seen one yet). I used to drive a MINI and waving to other MINI drivers was normal.

 

I had a new Prime wave at me a couple days ago... with "ONE" finger! I guess my old regular Prius wasn't going fast enough for his exotic new car! After he shot around me, I moved in right behind him and rode his hotshot Prime a** for 4 miles. See how HE likes it! (Yes, even some Prii owners are idiots)
