I'm holding off buying the Prime until my 2003 Echo dies (which, at 316k miles, is weary but resolute).
Does anyone know when Toyota typically brings next year's model into the showroom?

I hope they'll get rid of the "toilet white" trim next year, that's all.

I think Sept or Oct but it depends on the model. Best to just check the Toyota website and see when it begins mentioning the 2018.

Expect very few changes and a price increase.

The 2018 models: not yet ready for Prime Time! (Sorry, couldn't resist).

Typically, with few exceptions (read: Honda Civic a few years ago, after Consumer Reports and other reviewers absolutely panned the new version) car manufacturers rarely make major changes after just one year. So as DavidA said, few changes, and probably a price increase (esp if the Yen stays strong -- Toyota had a huge drop in profit mostly because of the strong Yen. They'll probably have to raise prices next year if it stays as is).

Isn't the black trim available with Black interior? Only the Moontlstone interior has the white accents

I think PrimeCandidate was referring to the "Blizzard Pearl" exterior when he said "Toilet White," not the Moonstone.
(Honestly, to me both Toyota's White and Blue exteriors are too "color saturated"/stark for my taste. Which is why I like the more subtle Silver, Grey or Titanium Glow colors). In the US, there are color sets (Exterior/Interior) that you can't really find together "off-the-rack" unless you special order them from Toyota (for instance, Titanium Glow/Moonstone in Plus trim -- can't find those anywhere off the shelf) -- but you can special order that combo. Of course, if you special order a car, then (according to Toyota when I asked them) you won't be eligible for the Toyota Cash Back savings that are in effect at the time you place the order -- just whatever Toyota offers are in effect when your car finally comes in and you pick it up. While I really do like the Grey color, it was just a bit dark (I prefer lighter colors to keep the car cooler and see less dust, though don't like the stark white). So my two first choices were Silver/Moonstone or Titanium/Moonstone. But off-the-rack, you can't get Titanium/Moonstone (only with special order), so I went with the Silver/Moonstone -- and found one on sale below MSRP. A shame Canada won't have the Silver.

I think he meant the bone china trim for the cupholders and steering wheel. Most of it is black for the Prime with a black interior.

Yeah it seems odd to exclude silver (then again, Honda Canada excluded silver in the Accord if you bought an EX, EX-L or Touring a few years back. Why? Who knows?)

This is true also on the 2017 liftback for Three and above (for One, Two and Two Eco, all interiors including Moonstone have the darker center console accents)

Maybe Toyota does read PriusChat. In February 2016 shortly after rollout of Gen 4, during the first debate (er, discussion) about the white interior pieces, after my earlier rant about it I calmed down a bit and said:

"Toyota I'm sure will realize if they haven't already that not everyone wants the Bone China treatment. And since it's not a structural item that would have to wait for the next design tweak, my guess is that there will be a non-Bone China option for all trim levels in the next model year. To handle the logistics, maybe they could tie it to an interior color, like maybe black interior gets Bone China but moonstone and harvest beige don't."

Possible solution to the ugly "Bone China" trim | Page 3 | PriusChat

The only thing I guessed wrong is that they made Bone China available in moonstone not black. I was thinking they might go for the higher contrast, although I think they made the right decision by tying it to Moonstone. Although that still leaves quite a glaring contrast in the black interior since it retains the white steering (again only in Three and above, One, Two and Two Eco have black steering wheels)

Yes, I was talking about the interior trim that's shiny white.
I live where I have to often drive on dirt roads. Having "shiny white" on the steering wheel or embedded in the dash not only highlights dust but it becomes irritating to the eye from its sheer brightness.
My hope--enough customers have registered complaints. Maybe they're willing to re-cast those plastic molds using a darker color next year. Otherwise, what can we do, use black marker pen???

I have the black interior trim and it shows dust very well. I keep a Swiffer in the car and use it quite often.

Why should we expect a price increase for the 2018 model if there are no changes? Is that what Toyota does as a matter of course?

Wow, this doesn't make sense - they release a 2018 with no updates whatsoever, and they raise prices? it's like Apple releasing a new iPhone which is the same as last year's model and expecting people to pay more... crazy...

If it is normal Toyota the 2018s will be out in March of 2019.
