I ran across these at Home Depot for $5.00 enough to last a lifetime! Just pull up from bottom pull forward from top cut to size, cut notch out for post, snap back on. Voila no more plugged fan Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I've been using the Frost King Window air conditioner filter from Home Depot for the same thing. Stocked at my local store for less than half the price. Frost King 15 in. x 24 in. x 1/4 in. Foam Room A/C FPR 2 Air Filter-F1524 - The Home Depot
Yes and no: putting in a filter like that, and the denser the filter material the more the effect, makes it a permanently partially plugged filter. I guess the trick is finding a balance; I would err on the side of caution, ie: using a coarse, open-weave material is safer.
That's part of the reason I'm using what I am. It is thin and very effective for dog and daughter hair but not so thick as to obstruct the air flow. I read the warnings from you and others here before I put in the first filter. The experienced people on this site are the greatest with helpful advice.
Yeah maybe, if it's designed for central heating vents, not much of a flow restriction. My school-of-thought now is to use household mosquito screen, has about 1/16" square openings. And check the actual fan every year or two.
Very unrestrictive material that is why I chose it. Cleaned all the dog hair out of fan and ducting about a month ago. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
We occasionally transport our Shiba Inu, who sheds from about January through May (I hope he's nearly done...). We don't put a lot of miles on the car, and he's not in the car for most of those miles, but he is occasionally, typically on the floor in the back seat, though he occasionally hops up on the seat. Been about 2 years since last I checked, and lately saw nothing even worth cleaning. Maybe depends on the type of hair (his is very short/downy), and to be fair there's not a lot of "Shiba miles" involved.
Short downy hair gets sucked right in. Goes straight to the squirrel cage and plugs the fins. Roof is the best option for no hair issues Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
