Same here! I got about a 100% success rate on friends making jokes about me getting a Prius. I actually finished my plastidip project a few days ago. I am extremely pleased with the results. I am glad you are enjoying the new aesthetics of your Prius. #MakePriusGreatAgain

Anyone has a link how to removed the plastic insert. I removed the rims and I am scared I might break the plastic inserts?

I believe you pinch the tabs on the inside surface of the wheel to release the inserts.

Using a pair of pliers would make doing it easier.

I don't know if you guys know the peelable primer, it is like a plasti-dip but you use this primer then you can use any regular spray paint and it will be peelable like the Plasti dip. Advantage is you can buy any paint color glossy or not so you have more choices, I bought the primer from homedepot, $7 or something.

Toyota offers an Appearance Package now and part of this package is Gunmetal inserts on the 17" wheel. Might be an option for those who don't like the silver and don't want to paint/dip theirs. IMG_1356.jpg

At around $24 per garnish, 5 per wheel, 4 wheels total, I can't see those flying off the shelves.

Body shops could do the same thing for one or two hundred?

Looks a lot like the Plasti-dipped ones.

In person, you can see the gunmetal grey better. Looks black in the picture.

I was gonna plastidip mine but after I took them off I kinda liked it that way too. I'll probably still dip them and see what I think.

Yup! I had the dealer remove the plastic pieces, removing it yourself is a Pain! Then sanded down all the pieces a bit to help the paint stick, Used about two cans of Flat Black furniture spray paint and painted them. I think it look a Billion times better now, and after 8k miles the paint is still perfect. Oh I also added these rubber black lug nut covers from amazon for like 4 bucks to make everything black but the toyota logo in the middle. :D
