After buying a used 2010 Prius IV, I learned that there was an update in 2012, which explains why the center console and some other things are different from the 2014's I had driven in the past for work. I'm wondering what, if any, of the 2010 components are upgradeable with that of the 2012 refresh. Living in Southern Cali, I'm pretty sure I can find plenty of viable components in junkyards and such. Of particular interest to me is if the is the center console can be switched out (the arm rest/storage below it, etc).
I believe there has been such modifications, even discussed on this forum. I just saw one a few weeks ago, perhaps when reading this topic: https://priuschat.com/threads/what-did-you-do-to-ur-gen-iii-prius-today.112616
I just felt bad giving somebody a link to an 8 page thread. Now I do not feel so bad. You gave a link to a thread with over 700 pages
From personal experience the entire exterior can be swapped to the +12 and I don't see why the interior wouldn't be interchangable as well.
Ditto for @Michael Mann. There are a number of us who went out of our way to retrofit the older black components into our later model Prii.
