I have a brand new 2017 Prius 3. I ended up complaining to the dealer about the excessive wind noise around the drivers side window area. After leaving my car for the day at the dealer I came back at the end of the day with even more noise starting at 33 mph post their repair. I then started pushing in the gasket around the small triangle window and noticed the wind noise was reduced. I then took black electrical tape and taped the outside window and trim area completely. What a difference. It was so impressed with the reduced sound, I even taped the passenger side as well. Dealer update I called my dealer and told him about my fix and since then they ordered a brand new window and will hire a glass installer for the fix. Not too sure I want the factory OEM window taken out and a new window reinstalled. Has anyone else had the same wind noise if so, how did you fix it.
Interesting fix - could you please post pics? BTW: I have instead a noise coming from the steering column/behind the steering wheel, above 60km/h // 40mph, essentially linked to specific rpms of the ICE and ambient temperature. I don't hear it with music on, otherwise is driving me insane. Talked with my dealer and said that they would have to open up everything, and I really don't want that! (because then other noises will come up!)
Ditto on the pictures. Concerning the steering column noise take a look here. a Steering issue in gen 4th 2016 | PriusChat
Is there anyway you can post photos of how you put electrical tape on the outside window and trim area? Thanks, Dan
I normally don't notice wind noise but now that you mention it I do hear some around the drivers door.
The buffeting is worse than my Gen 2, but overall, it's a quieter car, although the Powers That Be groove all the paving here. I think it's because people can't deal with driving in precipitation. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
