Everything in my 2010 Prius III not Three looks brand new except the chrome on the steering wheel emblem is worn. Can I pop/pry that out with a thin screw driver: 1) without damage plastic around it 2) without activating the steering air bag? 3) can you buy that small oval emblem at the dealer? Thanks
Thanks for the link to buy the emblem. The only trouble is that it seems to only guarantee that it is close to the size. Can they guarantee that it is the exact size for 2010 Prius steering hub? I am new. I could not figure out how to edit my post. Please explain how. Someone said it is part of the airbag. UH Oh. Does that mean that even if I gently pry off the old one, that it will activate the airbag? Anyone out there done it?
Here's a post with a step-by-step guide to disabling the airbag and removing the steering wheel. I'm sure you can figure out how to get the emblem off once you take everything apart. Contact the seller of the emblem I linked for precise measurements. https://priuschat.com/index.php?posts/2537032
Thanks xiliderider. My vanity has its limits. I would never take apart the steering wheel just for that emblem. Are you saying that it is not possible to pry off the steering hub emblem WITHOUT activating the airbag and THUS you have to take apart the steering wheel to do it properly? If so, then I will give up prying off the old emblem and gluing on a new one. I have heard that chrome nail polish at Walmart will do the trick. So it canNOT be simply gently pryed off with a thin screwdriver without activating something? Thanks
Thanks Tankyuong. I will try my luck with Chrome nail polish first. Unless someone can answer my question: will pry out the steering hub emblem activate the bag if I do not turn the bag off?
Thanks Tankyueng Rebound, thanks but I was actually trying to see if I could pry of the old emblem without disconnecting the battery, removing the steering wheel, and that prying it off will not activate the airbag. So now I have 2 choices. 1) pry off and replace it with eBay emblem 2) first try painting it with walmart chrome fingernail polish Thanks everybody This thread might be finished
