So whilst camping down in VA I ran across a Prius in a color I've never seen. The color is what I'd call "Black Cherry". I looked online and I didn't see anything remotely similar. Think it's a custom paint job? It looks fantastic in person!
It's a 2013 Persona. And yeah, the color is black cherry. That color was only available that year I believe and only on the persona edition.
Yep. I was inches from purchasing a Black Cherry Pearl Persona. Decided to wait for the Gen4. If I'm not mistaken, the color is borrowed from Lexus.
Originally from 2001 in the US on the GS and LS then onto the Scion xB (and I think xA) in 2003 and finally to the FJ Cruiser in 2007. I actually didn't know it was from Lexus. I only remembered them from the Scions. I had to look it up. Good memory Tony!
It's kinda fun having a unique Prius color. People ask me "Is this a stock color?" or I get thumbs up from nearby Prius drivers on the road. The other day I pulled up next to another black cherry at a stop light and gave the driver a peace sign and it took him a moment to realize why and then we both laughed. I wonder if there is a way to find out what the production run was.

Nice color,recently purchased a use one,I drove 500 mile round trip to pick up one with 92000 miles on it,love the car the color is awsome.this is my first toyota.
I loved this color, too, but the road noise was so loud and ride so harsh on the OEM 17's, I ended up trading for my current Gen 4, Three Touring. Toyota made huge improvement in road noise and ride comfort in the Gen 4 Touring 17's happy to say.
I still get people coming up to me asking me how I got this color and complimenting me on it, which is nice considering this thing is 4 years old now. The interior is even nicer.. I love it!
Good to know toyota made a huge improvement in road noise,and comfort,but l love the way mine rides and the comfort I feel when sitting behind the wheel.just love this color,always been a Chevy man.but needed better gas mileage,and a way to get my gran kids to school.
Old thread, but I just saw someone at a garage sale with this car. We chatted for a bit and I commented how I loved the color of her car. I have a prius prime in blue magnetism (a color only available to primes), and the black cherry color looks like it would be a great color for the prime lineup. I'd consider it if they had it as an option.
