Long time viewer but first post. I sold my 2012 package 5 with advanced tech package for a 2017 packing 4 touring with everything on it. With the current rebate I ended up at $27,300 + taxes, which I thought to be a really strong price on a nearly $33,500 MSRP. MAN, I cannot believe what an upgrade this vehicle is. It feels more like a 10 year newer vehicle than just the 5 years it really is from my 2012. I will admit, I did not like the gen 4 styling at first, but it has grown on me and I now love it. For anyone in the Bay Area, I HIGHLY recommend San Francisco Toyota. They are truly top-notch, everyone I encountered was very knowledgeable, professional and fun. No high-pressure tactics or slimy sales folks. I look forward to being a part of Prius chat! Cheers
Congratulations - I'd agree with the advance from Gen 3 to Gen 4. I drove a Gen 2 about 2006, decided I didn't like it, similarly in 2011. Both were "OK", but nothing to get excited about - and there were appreciably better driving cars around, if not as economical. But the Gen 4 was something I felt was up with what is expected in a car of 2016 - so bought my first PRIUS last June. Great car.
Thanks, and congrats on your first Prius. Glad you're enjoying it. I always liked the gen 3 styling which I thought was much sharper and interesting than the gen 2. What I didn't realize is how noisy the thing would be. I suppose my test drive wasn't long enough when I purchased it! Every time I got into our HS 250h which is pretty quiet, I grew more tired of the Prius. I haven't been back in the Lexus after buying the 2017 Prius, but I'm actually thinking that it is quieter and rides better. Toyota definitely stepped up to the plate and produced a fantastic vehicle. I already miss my storage space in the false floor of the gen 3, but I'll make do ... small price to pay for a major upgrade.
Anything is a compromise - the perfect car doesn't exist - I'm told that a Ferrari isn't the best car in tight traffic, nor a Lamborghini for parking in close situations. My mate's RollsRoyce has an amazing ride and is super-quiet - but the fuel it guzzles!!!! For the money, I thought PRIUS was a good car, well equipped, - love the RADAR Cruise down to 0km/hr particularly. And it uses amazingly little fuel.
I like them, not the very best out there but they provide nice clean and crisp sound. They're certainly improved over my previous 2012's JBL Green Edge speakers.
Congrats! I can relate, living in Oakland and trading up from a gen 3. I bought my 2016 at SF Toyota and had a great experience + price from this dealer. It's a great car. Enjoy!
This gen 4 is worlds apart from the gen 3 on our local [crappy] roads! Do you service it at SFT? I've been using Berkeley most recently after unfavorable experiences at one of our Oakland dealers, but thinking I'll see how it goes servicing in the city.
Just boguht one myself last sunday, believe me everyone who comment how bad is prous look have no clue what they are talking about, imo you will never see the upgrade by just test driving the car, the safety featurea alone will save you probably a life, and the adaptive cruise control, no more get tiring on a long drive, only thing you need to do in long drive is hilding the wheel, it even stop the car and then resume back as soon as the front vehicle moved, like half autonomous hehe
You may have bought while they were still really new. I guess now being mid-2017, everyone who wanted one of the first now has it. This all depends on time of year, too, plus incentives that are/are not offered periodically. I would've saved another $250 by waiting until May 2nd. But who knew. They could've gone to $500 or $0 just the same. Once ya buy, simply enjoy!
It would take over an hour drive in good traffic + toll to get to SF Toyota. It's out on the avenues. I too had a terrible experience at one one the Oakland service centers (see my other posts) so I'm looking for a new place. OneToyota or maybe Dublin.
Congrats and nice car! Like you, I hated the looks at first, but it did grow on me. Some colors are harder to appreciate than others. What brought me in was seeing the all black interior which I think looks best.
My moon glow black parts show a gray something on them like scuff marks. Leather treatment stuff seems to help. Last black for me as the other colors never did that/at least so you would notice.
