Well if you're waiting, you might as well see which arrives first. You get a larger rebate with the TM3, right? (the full $14,000?). That should make it price competitive with the Prime if you're light on the options menu. It'll get pricey once you start adding the pano roof or enhanced autopilot.

Tideland where are you getting your info regarding the $7,000.00 incentive for Ontario? I had hoped it was going to be higher than that.

I had the same dilemma last year. My 2006 was on it's last legs (almost 400k km), and my plan was to hold out for the Prime, but I ran out of time.

I did have some reservations about the 4 seats in the Prime, as I could get by with it, but I preferred the flexibility of the 5th seat (for my dog, along with my two sons). I had hemmed and hawed for some time about whether to spring for a brand new Prime or get a used PiP instead.

When the engine began to fail in May 2016, the decision was taken out of my hands, and there happened to be a 2014 PiP Technology on AutoTRADER with relatively low mileage (40K km) for a decent price (negotiated CND$26k) so I grabbed it.

Ontario made the HOV perk a *permanent* perk last June, and I finalized my deal the day after. That was the last piece that nailed it for me. (I imagine they will grandfather these green plates at some point, but I have mine.)

Almost a year and 30k later (and an extra $10k in my pocket), I don't regret my decision, and in a twisted way, the delayed launch of the Prime is somewhat reassuring that I made the right decision.

I will probably upgrade to a Prime in a few years, once they available, and maybe when they add the 5th seat back. ;-)

    Cheers!

Probably from me bebe. 2017 Hyundai ioniq with the 5th seat is getting $8426 Ontario rebate..almost identical battery size. But I don't want a Hyundai,Good cars with that ugly Honda wannabe emblem logo.

Do you know where I can find the exact formula?

If not, I'll just update it with ~$8,400.

Was in "the good dealer" in Edmonton today. The sales guy who said he knew little about Prius volunteered that the Prime would be here next year "for sure" when we were discussing Prius in general and how many types there were.

News indeed, if a little late. So I guess Toyota is not worried about the low temps. ;)

Indeed the $14,000 incentive on the Volt is attractive, and I did look into the car. On the road it is almost the exact same price as a Prius, but in my situation the Volt is too small (less than half the trunk space and a car seat will not fit behind me in a comfortable seating position, i'm 6'2"). That combined with my parents driving Chevy's as I grew up, none of which were in decent shape after about 6 years on the road I eliminated it from my options. If I were single I might have given it a chance, but for me it just doesn't make sense.

It's funny how similar you and I are. I am also 6'2" and have kids to consider (2) for the backseat. They are young in booster seats (5 & 9), but space is a consideration.

In my case, our other car is a Leaf, so the Prius is my daily driver for work, and our traveling family car. Therefore, as much as I was intrigued by the Volt, lack of faith in GM was a factor, and trunk space with the Volt is another. Trunk space in the Prime was also a minor concern, but not a major one, as it is relatively close to the PiP.

For multiple reasons (one of which was availability), I picked up a used PiP last year, and been happy with the decision so far.

Well i have one. I was lucky, i crashed my old 2004 subaru car and went to the toyota dealer next day shopping for a new one. I was fedd up with old cars and decided to buy a new one with the best mileage and reliability on the market.
I was looking for or pip prius but the dealer just received 2 primes the day before.

I went for the test drive, and reserved the demo car after the test drive.
i selected a lot of options so i had to wait 10 days for the delivery (like the horizontal bars on the door - pretty ! - , treatment for the paint, remote engine control with the phone, TAG , etc)

still waiting for the trunk plastic liner to be available (same as in the matrix)

dealer is chasse toyota in Montreal
Got a red Prius Prime :)

I have it since 3 weeks, and the owner of the building agreed for me to install a lvl 2 charger.

It's a great car and i am excited everytime i have to go somewhere, especially to give lifts to people and make them test the car ahah

Rest of Canada will have to wait until early 2018.
