Yeah, I have a base PiP. This thread and it's update only pertains to the base model Nav or Prius trim 3. Our traffic has always been supported through the smartphone Entune app. No Sirius XM option at all for traffic. Once connected the traffic app shows a list a list of nearby incidents. Quite useless, IMO. I go straight to the map app which now highlights red, yellow, and green. I'm surprised your higher level Nav system has no option but to pay For Sirius XM.
That's been a gripe since the PiP first came out. The HDD unit on the PiP Advanced requires XM data to get traffic info. That has only now become an issue, as the three-year complimentary data subscription expires for us early adopters.
Please Toyota - Tell us how your nav/radio systems got so complicated, and why you are maintaining this concept. A description from your online support: Toyota previously required a subscription for use of the Entune App Suite, but the arrival of the latest generation of Entune in the 2014 Tundra marks the end of that fee. Not only will new Entune customers get the service at no charge going forward, but even existing users no longer have to pay for a subscription. The only exception is for models that use SiriusXM to provide traffic, weather and sports. Those will still require a satellite radio subscription. Is Entune® a fee-based service? All new Entune® -equipped Toyota vehicles come with complimentary access to Entune® apps and data services for three years, active from the point of sale. After three years of complimentary access, Entune® users can elect to continue their access to Entune® apps and/or data services for a monthly access fee: For Display Audio w/Navigation/Entune® owners and Premium HDD Navigation w/Entune® owners, access to Entune® apps is estimated at $5/month* For Display Audio w/Navigation/Entune® owners, access to Entune® data services is estimated at $5/month* For Display Navigation/Entune® owners, access to Entune® apps is estimated at $5/month* For Display Navigation/Entune® owners, access to Entune® data services is estimated at $5/month* For Premium HDD Navigation with Entune® owners, the SiriusXM Radio13 data services package (NavTraffic™, NavWeather™, Travel Link™ (Fuel and Sports & Stocks)) is available from SiriusXM Radio13 for $8.99/monthˆ. SXM data is delivered directly to the multimedia system via satellite. SXM data services do not rely on the customer's cell phone data plan. SXM data services provide an "Always On" feature. NavTraffic™, NavWeather™ and Travel Link™ subscriptions are also available separately. NavTraffic™ = $3.99/monthˆ NavWeather™ = $9.95/monthˆ Travel Link™ (Fuel and Sports & Stocks)= $1.99/monthˆ Note that Satellite Radio (XM Select Package) requires a separate SiriusXM Radio13 subscription after the 90-day trial period and is available for an additional $14.49/monthˆ. * Pricing for Entune® access post three-year complimentary access period is an estimate. The addition of new Entune® applications and services may warrant a price change. Applications and data services are subject to change without notice. Currently there is no charge for Pandora®. ˆ Other fees and taxes may apply. Subscriptions are continuous until you call 1-866-635-2349 to cancel. See SiriusXM Radio13 Customer Agreement at Welcome to the world of satellite radio - SiriusXM Radio for details. SiriusXM Radio13 prices reflect non-negotiated rates and are subject to change.
just look at those names! display audio with navigation/entune vs. display navigation/entune vs. Premium HDD Navigation with Entune lol
Entune webpage after logging in my vin # has my unit listed as? Premium HDD Navigation with Entune and JBL® I thought Premium HDD units have 7" screens mine is just 6.1" ? Still trying to figure out if theirs any updates like a firmware update for the unit or update to the core Entune program maybe something I can do or even something the dealer has to do if no other way anything just to bring it up to date is all ? The shit running on it now is like way too old
Mine is named "Premium HDD Navigation with Entune® App Suite & JBL®" and that model's latest versions are: Model 11TSANNA-AZ02 EnTune 1.3.300027 Navigation V6673170 Bluetooth 21.202 Gracenote 03451 [2011-01-1] Map 21-11-24 [2011-06-1]
During an 11 State trip, I had had it with my outdated 2012 Prius' Entune navigation. I stopped by a dealer in TX who wanted $269 for the disc AND $149.00 for an hour's labor to install it/ I can purchase a very nice brand new GPS with all the bells & whistles for that kind of money. Wth???? There HAS to be another way to get this done.
you can probably find a better deal by shopping around dealers, but a separate gps, phone or h/u is the best way to go.
Any smartphone with GPS built-in can do navigation. You don't even need cell service or data service. Google maps can predownload maps just like a Garmin does and works off satellites so cell connection is not needed.
At least for Europe I know some one who can update maps for 70-100 euro, activation included I can ask if he can do it for USA too
