I just posted on this, if you want a Doughnut the size is T125/70D16 96M for about $28.00 including wheel.
Seem to readily available at junkyard.
I believe the $180 space saver he quoted is same as above/ get the sidewall #.

    So, Mendel that's a total of $152.67 for a $28.00 Doughnut.

When I bought my Prime I requested a doughnut. Answer: The Prime does not make a doughnut. All they had to do was some primary research and get me a donut that fit, that's all I cared about. Instead they payed $265.00 for a brand new tire, when I would have been satisfied with a $28 spare. but, all they know is parts inventory and not specific technical information.

I do thank all concerned for providing any info on the spare question and hope that my contribution also helps others.

Did you notice that the part number in one description has a "16", while the other (supported by my Toyota dealer), is a "17"? What gives? The dealer assured me that it was a 17" wheel. I seem to recall that the space saver on my 2012 PIP was a 16". Who knows? Does it matter?

Absolutely, One time I put the wrong size on my 2012 Pip and after lowering the jack it was 2 inches off the ground!

I'm getting a spare as part of the purchase. No idea what the dealer will give me yet

I think the size of assembly will be determined by the aspect ratio of the space saver tire used. With the 17" (bigger circumference) wheel, you need an aspect ratio that reduces the sidewall height so that tire will have same circumference as standard Prius street tire. So my guess is that 16 or 17 are both ok as long as space saver tire is compatible with space saver wheel, both then able to match circumference of standard 15" street tire.

Please post the model numbers of tire and wheel, and if you have the ambition, let us know if the spare fits correctly. Looks like you're our friendly little neighborhood guinea pig, this time

$28 would be for salvaged wheel/rim assembly, is very reasonable, and perfectly acceptable, as long as it's not too abused, and/or getting too old, the tire age. A tire older than 10 years, you're starting to take chances. OTOH, I'd suspect few (of any) owners change them out, say at that 10 year point.

The prices through Toyota Parts Online and Tirerack are also reasonable I think, for new. A lot less than the dealership quote, which sounds like hyper-retail, insurance claim territory.

This should be interesting, possibly another tire comparable to the other 4.

Incidently I tried to find where that 16" is applicable, it isn't, not outside nor inside, but 17" is. That was part of my confusion.

    AndyPrius1,
The 16 is appears in the part number you listed, and I assume it refers to the size of the wheel. The other part number on the other hand which I believe appears on Mendel's "table" has a 17 in it. The Toyota parts guy only talked to me about a 17" wheel.

Never assume anything. Ask the Toyota parts guy specifically what is 17 inches ? You do know that Toyota makes NO Doughnut SPARE TIRE. if he has one in stock that would be revolutionary. Then he can bring the tire to you and measure with a tape measure. I hope we are still on the same subject, " Doughnut for 2017 Prime " ?

Parts guy at Toyota dealer said he could only get the wheel, no tire. The America's Tire guy, Jose, said he could get both for $180, 17".

I would think a quick call to Tire Rack asking about a donut tire mounted to the compact steel wheel steel matching a stock Gen4 Prius would get several options.

Yea, one would think that, but, to prove it.......one would have to do it, document it on Prius Chat. Without specific information Chat is just a Gossip column. As bad as FaceBook
