Couple days ago my 2012 Prius C wouldn't start, the only thing I saw it was a check engine light on the dashboard so I open the hood and eventually it came on.

Today I went to start it and again it wouldn't turn on but this time it wouldn't come back on so I looked online for Solutions and saw that it most probably was the 12 volt battery. So instead of jumping it I decided to replace it. I went to Napa and he said the only thing he saw for a 2012 Prius C was the internal battery but I told him I just needed the 12 volt battery so he looked up just regular Prius and gave me a 12 volt battery it was around $200.

I took off the panels and removed the seat. I don't know if I was supposed to do this or not but I also removed the orange peice that turns off the internal battery. I removed the old 12 volt battery and when I was replacing it with the new one I noticed it was just about an inch wider. I hooked up the vacuum hose first then the positive then the negative. When I first hooked up the negative I kept hearing things come on but I noticed that I put it on upside down so I flipped it and when I finally got it finished and try to turn on the car there was nothing and is nothing. Absolutely nothing not even a check engine light.

I have a couple of theories one is that I might have blown a fuse while trying to hook up the battery. Or the battery is not the right size. I'm hoping somebody can help me.

    welcome!
are you saying that when you put it on upside down, you reversed the polarity? if so, you hopefully blew a fuse, and not the inverter.
i would return the incorrect battery they sold you and get the correct size from a toyota dealer.
did you put the orange safety connector back to gather properly? you have to slide it down after snapping it shut.

Be sure that you put this back correctly. Push in, then slide to set it.

Size isn't all that important but having the new battery fully charged IS.

Given what you said, I'm not sure you should have tackled this project yourself.

A truck ride to a shop probably is in order now.

Yes i definitely put the safely connector back properly, and what I meant by putting it upside down was the negative wire was put on the wrong side of the negative side I just had it flipped the wrong way so the smaller part of the whole went on the battery first instead of the bigger side going in first and slipping on the negative piece that slips out of the battery.

have you checked the voltage to make sure it is charged properly?

UPDATE: I called NAPA the auto parts store that I bought the battery from and they said to bring both batteries in to see if they have a better match to the battery that I purchased. When I brought it in they told me that that was the closest battery to the battery I needed and checked the battery they sold me and saw that it was defected and my original bad battery had more juice then the battery they sold me. They replaced the battery with a new battery that was testing good and when I went home two hook it up everything worked perfectly. Thank you guys for your help
