Why Won't My Prius Go Into (Drive)

    I had 2 battery cells go bad on my '05 Prius. I replace them with a friend and seems everything should be in working order. But now I can't get my car to go into drive. Only Park and Neutral are options.

    I tried clearing the codes, but it hasn't seem to do anything other than causing the dash the flash.

    Here are the codes that came up on my code reader:
    $7E8
    $7EB
    $7EA


    My research states the following definitions:
    7E8 for ECM (engine control module)
    7EB for Traction Battery
    7EA for HVECU (Hybrid contol module)
    ---

    Any ideas? I'm at a total loss. My wits end.

    Lock down the orange interlock switch. Press down to lock it in place. Then the car will start

    We thought that we had it locked down in place. But we can doublecheck.

    The lever will pivet up and then you press down to lock it into place

    If it's not the interlock switch, then it's a bad 12v battery

    Yes. It's locked into place. I slid it in. Then locked the lever down 3x

    Take the cover off the battery and with orange interlock in measure across battery side connectors at relay and see what battery voltage is.

    And the codes you listed are gibberish. Those are not correct hybrid codes, what are u using for
    OBD?

    Blows my mind that people go through the trouble of installing modules and never even check if the battery has correct output before installing it.

    I figured it out! A couple of our bolts on our hybrid battery cells were not screwed in all the way tight. Because we were working as a team one of us were getting things tight my hand while the other was going through and tightening more they socket wrench. Four of them were not tight enough. Simply tightening them solve every problem. The car is driving and performing well. I'm so happy! Thank you for your help.

    Tightening nuts on the battery should never be a team effort. I hope 1 person checked all the terminal nuts were tightened to 47 inch pounds. Loose nuts can cause all kinds of problems, even potential fires when they heat up

    Yes team effort can be disasterous. One person thinks the other got it....
    2 people and still no one checked it's output before buttoning it up.
