I have a 2002 Prius without cruise control and am looking to add it. My dealer says it's not available from Toyota for that year. Has anyone had success with a non-Toyota cruise control? Thanks!

Coastal E Tech has an aftermarket version. You dealer is incorrect about the Toyota parts being not available.

Metrotpn (toyota parts now) for example sells the complete kit for about $150. You get a new steering wheel (with the CC switch installed) and a new brake light switch. Installation is a very manageable DIY. I did it in 2 hours maybe less.

Please post again if you need more info on the installation. There are several websites with details.

I bought Prius (w/o CC) in 2001 and after one 500 mile driving day, I knew that I was in the market for this thing.

I paid $170 plus shipping for a factory new steering wheel with a factory cruise from Metro Toyota for my 2001 Prius. Easy install and looked great.

But that was in September 2001. Try giving them a call.

I am glad my 2006 Prius came with package 8.

I did mine using non-Toyota parts under USD10. If you still have no success getting the original parts, I can provide you the instructions.

I do still sell the factory cruise kits for $151.00 plus shipping. UPS ground typically runs $6-9 to most places in the US. I have one kit in stock right now. Your local dealer can still get them also but retail runs $220.00. Give me a call or order through the site if you are still interested.

Hi Jesse it's great to have metrotpn checking in again. I got my cruise control from Eddie Bell back in the olden days. We were very sad to lose him.

Yes he is missed, we still speak of him and his antics fondly here.
