is it normal to be able to hear the tires snapping on the pavement when making a turn while stopped or low speed? I've never noticed it before the Prius, but I'm guessing it's because the Prius is so quiet on start with the ice off. Do you guys hear it too? I'm pretty sure it sounds like the tires are gripped to the ground, but when rotating, the tires will deform due to static friction, then suddenly friction is overcome and it makes the snapping noise similar to that of bouncing a large yoga ball on carpet.
It definitely happens on flat ground too. My tire pressures are 39 36 as recommended by Toyota. I'm hoping this is normal, and not a suspension problem.
@Chippingawayatlife I hope and expect it's simply you being hypersensitive to every little thing in a good way. The only time I think my Prius sound resembles any other car I've driven is when the ICE is purring as we climb a gradient. To me, it didn't sound very serious and I would monitor it for a few days days before telling your dealer.
You're correct. That's just how I am about stupid small stuff. It's quite frustrating for me and the people around unfortunately. I'll have to learn to change that about me.
Hey, that's NOT a bad thing. It demonstrates your enthusiasm and focus. In my book they're commendable traits.
