Oops!! Left the Smart Key in one of the multiple pockets in my new Father's Day cargo shorts. Washed in Warm Permanent Press Setting Tumble Dry Warm SKS worked fine after laundering. WARNING! Don't try this at home! You may not be this lucky.
Mine took a bath in the Gulf. I took it apart as much as possible to remove the dried salt and discovered it has O-ring seals! Very nicely engineered for the elements.
Do you use the Spray & Wash or just throw it right in with the regular detergent for best results? Glad it all came out OK.

Decided to help the wife with the laundry, threw the jeans in the wash, turned it on...then had a thought...better check pockets...sure enough my Smart Key was in my jeans (along with $2!).
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(genalex @ Jun 22 2006, 08:34 PM) </div> i must admit i did the same thing. one good thing about it was it came out smelling so fresh and clean
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DaveinOlyWA @ Jun 22 2006, 07:26 PM) </div> Yeah, and the REAL bummer, no pun really intended, is that my trick was dropping the cellphone in the toilet...eeewwww!!!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rufaro @ Jun 23 2006, 05:34 AM) </div> you would be amazed at how often it happens
A guy at my work accidently dropped their phone in the toilet as it was flushing and it was lost forever!
I now check all pockets religiously before wash. Due to the fact I had destroyed my husband's cell phone and leather wallet in the past....UGGGHHHH! But good to know about the durabililty of the Smart key..... thanks
Years ago I found a Nokia cell phone in a 12"deep puddle of water. After it dried out, I called the owner, and sent it to her UPS. I was surprised it still worked, too.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rufaro @ Jun 23 2006, 08:34 AM) </div> Same thing happened to my company beeper a couple years ago and of course, it was dead. I turned it in and told them I wouldn't be taking another one.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DaveinOlyWA @ Jun 23 2006, 08:30 AM) </div> Dang. You mean I am NOT unique?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(genalex @ Jun 22 2006, 06:34 PM) </div> Hmmmmm, so I'm not the only one?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rufaro @ Jun 23 2006, 04:28 PM) </div> i work for a company that provides customer service and tech support for thousands of different companies including several major wireless providers. we get several info surveys, fyi's etc... dropping the cellie in the toilet is #1 reason for insurance claim for damages. (#1 replacement reason is still for lost/stolen)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DaveinOlyWA @ Jun 23 2006, 07:35 PM) </div> But lost/stolen is WAY less embarassing...
