7.5 hours detailing her today. I think it came out pretty well. Who else goes nuts cleaning their Prius? I do this religiously once every 3 months.
Good job, but I didn't see you polish or waxing it? I detail my car too but with a Dual Action polisher. I swear by it and will never polish and wax by hand anymore.
Wax it every fall and spring, and wash it 2~3 times in between. Our usage is getting so low, and what with garage storage, even to me it's starting to feel like overkill.
I waxed it. It's hard to see on the time lapse. Oh man, I'd love to have mine looking that good As someone who doesn't really know anything about detailing can you give me some tips? I go to the self-service car wash (like this), but it doesn't clean it very well - especially under the doors along that strip there are lots of black marks - but if I use my finger nail I can rub it off. Would a bucket of soapy water and a sponge get it off?
Oh wow! Nice! I need to get back to giving my Pearl some love! Last time my I waxed my Prius was when it was 6 months old, September 2014. 3M glaze by hand I swear I will never do this by hand ever again LOL Ever since, I just bring her to local hand car wash. 2 years overdue for wax and polish.
I go to one of those places too. I've learned not to use the long handle with a soap-dispensing brush on the end. It is full of dirt and residue from other cars and is just too harsh. I now go when it's not busy and hand wash with a bucket of soap and a microfiber towel. A sponge would probably work well, too. Search youtube for a guy named chrisfix. He has a ton of great videos on how to detail your car.
Looking good!! I wish I have the time to do it. I use to spend hours upon hours to detail my cars but not anymore. Life has taken over and I'm not liking it!
I concur, life challenges have taken over and is hard to find time to polish her up (she is due!). During the Winter months, I am going thru the car wash once a week. But I prefer to wash her by hand, gets those hard to reach places.
Sigh... I use to be much more "nuts" about maintaining my vehicle's finish and cleaning period.... But time has slowed me down a bit in this regard. I still know tricks and keep my vehicle looking better than most, most of the time. But I'm not as showroom by a long shot as I use to be. The older I get the more I have to employ the Careless Approach. That is....when my vehicle get's dirty...I have to Care Less That it is ......
