I'm sure she feels bad. I don't let my wife drive my Nsx. She doesn't want a divorce. My other cars I just expect stuff to happen. It's life.

She probably feels awful. It is just metal and plastic, as long as she isn't hurt I'd be happy.

I just start to smoulder, over what they call a "bumper" nowadays.

    $7.000 / $27.100 ~ 25% of a new Prime ??
    Which part is so expensive?

e.g., this guy in video is quite happy with the individually replaceable LEDs including a three-part bumper:

$7G? WTh? I'm guessing half of that figure was that ungodly expensive see-through radar Toyota emblem on the front. That HOV sticker looks a bit scratched too - can that be replaced?

EDIT:  The "F" above was replaced with an "h" by the forum software.

$7,000!!!!! Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues as well!!!! ...for that price, I'd expect at least a month of Sundays!!!

    MERGED

Interesting vid, somewhat spoiled by the guy's annoying vocal tick of pretenting he's a "choo-choo", and the fact he recorded it in the "horn-testing" bay at the local dealer! Interesing rear windsreen, though!

Only problem is a quite expensive car front (LED headlights, radar, etc.) and back as well (carbon hatch, rear windscreen, etc.).
So, for a new car a good insurance with GAP can cover all expenses ... and in case of an old car you can probably earn some money by selling these expensive parts ;)

...and they reduced price by eliminating rear wiper!

    I would mathematically say:
new Prime "Per Partes" >> new Prime (e.g., two front LEDs ~$3.000)
old Prime "Per Partes" ~~ new Prime

If you have the new Prime you may want to update your vehicle details in your profile. My wife named my truck several years ago Big Red, so I have named the Prime Little Red. If my truck is a pack of gum, the car better watch out for wolves :D.

As to these repairs, OUCH!!!, in MA that would mean you want from a safe driver to someone who would be paying high insurance for the next 5 years. But then their pricing model for the point system hasn't been updated since replacing bumpers was a $500 expense. MA applies 2 point for a minor accident between $500 and $2000 and 4 points for an accident over $2000 (the points don't make any sense but it is what it is). Oddly enough, you get 3 points for passing a school bus or blocking an emergency vehicle. So running into the trashcans in your yard is a worse offense than almost running down a child at a school bus stop. Oh and here is another winner, you can get 3 points for a hit and run where someone was injured but 4 points for running into a trash can :D.

FYI, I fell on the wrong side of this once, hit an ice patch and slid into a telephone pole at he end of my driveway doing $3000 worth of damage to my truck. I appealed it and won due to the city's lack of proper street maintenance but I had 4 points for about 8 months while the appeal went through. Good luck on your repairs.

If someone would build a decent mpg hybrid with bumpers like a Jeep Wrangler, I would be all over it.

I brought home my red Prius 4 with black inside two days ago. My dear hubby won't drive it, said he will never put it in our garage, which he said is to small and narrow for cars! He doesn't want to be the one to put first scratch/dent on it. On my last Prius when it was just a few days old he put it into the garage for me, but not far enough in, the garage door came down on the fender and gave a nasty scratch! I never did have it fixed, was waiting for worse damage, which never happened! Love my new Prius which I got earlier then expected because of new safety features.

Garage stored is good for cars. But maybe your garage, a mixed blessing, depending on dimensions?

Out in the elements the paint weathers a lot faster, tires age faster too. What's really depressing is the fancy plastic sculptures that pass for headlights these days: years of sitting in the sun leaves them fogged and yellow. Only about a grand apiece to replace.

So there's an idea. Headlight covers when parked out in the driveway. But one has to remember to remove them before driving. ;)
