At this point? Either on a ship or sitting at port in Richmond, B.C..

Honestly I don't know. A "spring" launch is typically May in Toyota Canada speak. I originally thought it would be March but March has come and is nearly gone.

They (Toyota reps) have said May introduction. From what others have posted most dealers may not bring them in except on "special order". Most here in Edmonton don't even show the G4 hatchback. Pickups and SUVs, they've got them in droves! ;)

Maybe I'm one of those posters, but yeah, I happened to be talking to a Service Writer at our nearby dealership, he said that's how even the regular gen 4 Prius were coming in: special order, as and when ordered, with deposits.

That's 180 degrees from fall of 2010 when we bought, with the lot awash in Prius. o_O

    Ouch. That is quite different.

Toyota needs to get on that EV train sooner rather than later. That or people are now used to $1.20-$1.30/litre.

Seriously, by the he time Toyota wakes up, there just might be a number of other options either on dealer's lots of on the believable horizon. Thinking of Bolt (apparently available in Quebec), new Leaf, not to mention some South Korean options.
At 300+km per charge backup ICE may no longer be a must have for many.

If you lease a EV in Ontario, who applies for the EV rebate? The dealer or the leaser? With these $14,000 EV rebates from Ontario, it would be kinda crazy to buy or lease that car in any other province but Ontario. I would prefer to buy in my home province, but not really fussy about taking a 14k markdown before I even drive it off the lot.

Yeah the Bolt and Pacific e-Hybrids are very expensive outside of Ontario.

Also, I believe the car has to be registered in Ontario so you'll need an ON DL and address.

Also, it doesn't say who gets the incentive if you lease the vehicle. It says the owner has to apply.

Technically, if you lease the vehicle you are not really the owner. It's clear cut if you purchase, but I can see some wiggle room if you lease in Ontario.

Well I don't know if you get the rebate to apply to the monthly lease or whether you pay the full price of the lease and you get the rebate later (proportional to the length of the lease).

But also, yes, the financial services own the car. (also technically the financial service owns the car too if you finance the car, until you pay it off).

Good point. But, I guess the title for a lease is the leasing company's name and the title for a financed car is in your name but you don't get it til you pay it off.

Anyone have any updates about availability in Canada? My dealership has gone silent...I've sent them an email a week recently as my patience is running out!

An email a week you have a bad case of Priusitis. I also left a deposit last month though. My dealer just contacted me 3 days ago and said they expect to have some information in 7 to 10 days. I hope this alleviates some of your symptoms. I have begun looking at Volts and the bmw i3 with range extender both these cars are very good in my opinion. I'm liking the the i3 because of its fast charge capabilities and great EV range so I can take advantage of the free charging stations here in Toronto.

"Spring" release usually means May. Likewise "fall" is more likely November than September. In other words, take the last month of the season.

I would expect information to come out soon. The website doesn't update until the day it goes on sale.

The Toyota.ca website is interesting. You can see the new "C-HR" under "vehicles" though it's still listed under "future vehicles" along with the Prime. Some work is remaining for their web service guys.

Well technically it's not the full CH-R page.

Both will be replaced when the vehicle goes on sale in May.

If it goes on sale in May...which is in a week...then you think Toyota would at least let the dealers know ahead of time? My dealer doesn't have the faintest idea about the car.

You might want to talk with @bwilson4web for comparisons between the i3 REx & the Prime.
Issues with the i3 led to him purchasing a Prime from out of state.
