Got in the car today and went to enter an address in the navigation system (Advanced 11.2). The only options it gave me were recent addresses and address book. It did not allow me to enter an new address (that button was greyed out). Rebooting the screen didn't fix it although when I got back I the car an hour later, the system worked normally. Anyone else ever experience this?
There will be multiple options not available if you drive....GPS..and others system and car setting....safety precautions from Toyota Stop and check again Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Toyota apparently never considered that there might be a passenger who wants to change settings. This has long been a source of gripes. It is clearly done at the behest of their legal department as a defense against lawsuits that Toyota facilitated an owner's stupidity.
The question is why this is the case with the Prius models, not however with our Yaris model? I conclude this not to be a general Toyota policy, but a model specific feature? regards rcc
I do not know about the Prime but on many GPS systems the restrictions are enabled by default for liability reasons but there is an option to disable the restrictions.
Yep, but it seems like the other ones usually notify you the option is not available while moving. So this time I just thought it was broken.
It was the same on my first generation 2002 Prius. It was so defensive that you had to explicitly dismiss the warning about not blindly following navigation guidance every time you started the car. It did not time out like in subsequent models. As for Toyota model differences, I guess it is sort of like why does one get individual tire pressure readings on the Highlander (like my son's 2008 Highlander Hybrid), but not the Prius?
If the car is moving then you can't input any address from scratch, similar to phone log that once you are in motion, you can't browse the whole calling history.
