I had them do some checking... because something didn't seem right. They discovered a link problem, that the original number I had been provided was right all along. Phew! CURT 11473 Now, if I can finally get my Prime to install it on... The expectation is next Friday.
cannot wait to get one of the hitch that actually fits the Prime. I considered roof rack but heard it causes wind noise, plus it's easier to mount/dismount bikes from hitch rack. please post the link when the part arrives next Friday! Thanks a lot!
Here's the link for the order I placed... 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Trailer Hitch | etrailer.com The delivered hitch is now impatiently waiting in my garage. Hopefully, I'll be getting my Prime within the next week. The hitch will be installed right away. Photos will be taken & shared. Stay tuned.
Thank you for providing the link for trailer hitch!!! Just placed an order. Hopefully I can receive it, install it, and post it soon.
Thank you ..needed for my motorcycle trailer....no harm done to Prime Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. Merged. begin using multi quote. I can't see wiring ....if you come across post the link.... Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
OMG! They weren't kidding when the install difficulty was listed as 10. It turned out nice, but that's not a recommendation I can give to anyone unwilling to really get involved. The steps are tedious & numerous. It took me 6 hours. Of course, you could always have an installer put it on. Stay tuned for photos.
Here it is: Notice how snug up against the bottom of the car it is, with very little actually exposed. That's really nice for minimizing aerodynamic exposure. It prevents ever bumping into it with your leg too; however, it does necessitate the purchase of an extender.
Is this is job where the car should be raised on ramps? Do the instructions include wiring if you want to two a small trailer? Any significant difference between the Curt and the other? Thanks, Bob Wilson
Extender? I was hoping not. How far is the end of the hitch from the bumper? I've got my Draw-Tite hitch, but haven't put it on yet. I was going to jack up the back of the car and put it on jackstands. I have two threaded studs that I will use as locator pins that will help in locating the hitch and bumper.
I was always going to have one because my wife's wheel chair carrier uses a 2" receiver. I'm just hoping there is enough gap for the extender-expander. Bob Wilson
Draw-Tite appears to hang down about an inch lower than Curt, allowing a regular accessory to attach just fine. My bike-rack has a locking mechanism, so it's too thick to fit underneath. Of course, I wouldn't want to it to be close to the hatch. So, I'd use an extender anyway.
The opening on the receiver of the hitch mounted to our gen 3 lift back is nearly flush with the bumper. Can you get a ball mount with that much extension stock or would that be a custom proposition ?
Is it Draw-Tite 24944-- the same as the regular Prius? The directions seem fairly easy and they indicate only 45 min. to install???
Yes, same as regular Prius. 45 minutes? Probably a lot longer unless you have access to a lift. I'll probably be putting on my hitch this week.
Do you think it could be any quicker to install than the Curt? Maybe the directions are better?????????
