Hello. My maintenance required light is on. I already did what it wants me to do, but the shop didn't reset it. Is there a way to reset it without going back to the shop? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
If you didn't get an owners manual cause you bought used and it wasn't there, they are available online from Toyota's website. That being said, it's easy to do. Hold down the ODO/Trip button on your dash and then power on the car. Watch the Odometer, it will be a series of dashes, once they go away and the miles show back up, your light should be off.
Sorry about that question. Had no idea it was in the owners manual Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I hate that light. I find it harder to reset than the reverse beep. Of course, I always try to do it from my somewhat flaky memory.
Canadian Prius don't have the maintenance light, fine by me. Hondas do need a reset, of Maintenance Minder; I've had to do a couple recently, and the second time it was still a struggle.
And what happens if it doesn't reset? The touch screen display has been acting up lately, as in going off, then coming on at odd times. When it goes off, the radio goes off as well, but I can turn the radio back on by punching the radio power button. That does NOT turn back on the touch screen. Is the odometer button wired through the touch screen circuitry? Is the maintenance required software stored on the same board as the touch screen? Never had this sort of problem with my '40 Chevy.
Yeah, our dash looks like this: And no steenking maintenance minder light. I'd be happier still, if it was all tactile/ergonomic knobs and sliders, but at least I don't have to play with a glorified touch-screen cell phone while driving.
The programming would be in one of the ECUs. You might have a loose connector. And 1940 Chevys didn't have a LOT of stuff. LOL!
