So, I have a secret. A guilty pleasure almost. OK, I’ll just say it: I think the Prime is beautiful.

I completely agree. And if you have the blue... the blue shows dirt like a white t shirt.

Everyone always amaze with my prius prime. Interior design 10/10 outside 9/10, overall? 9.5 for my taste. (Geek over here) <3

I'm not a real gone auto design guy but I think my titanium color Prime is very cool looking.

Overall I rate the Prime design as Camry-ish, with a nod to Hyundai styling cues. I could definitely do without the front extended black plastic or the back lighting. Actually, the Gen2 Prius is the only car I have truly loved for its styling. Ever since then the Prius has gone more mainstream which to me means boring. OK, but boring.

So the other day I ran my fingers over the front grill cover only to discover it is smooth. The gill pattern is under a clear, smooth surface.

That's correct. It's an acrylic cover with a pattern underlay.

If I may also add, the front of the Prime is pretty intelligent if you think about it. It allowed the design to create something that is current (an aggressive design that pinches the lower bit, similar to the Lexus models but without looking brash as well as making the car look wide with the L-shaped design at the corner) while meeting engineering desires (smaller openings for better aerodynamic. Look how small the grille and lower air dam is compared to the last 3 generations of Prius). It's sporty with the slim jewel-like LED headlights and the lower middle part of the bumper that juts out, akin to a chin spoiler. The pattern underlay is nice but may prove a bit costly for owners (does it crack easily in low-speed impacts?).

There's also continuity with the vertical corner lights in the front matching those in the rear (like the Gen 2 Prius with its vertically designed headlight housing matching the vertically designed taillight housing)

The car is not only beautiful...it is an amazing drive. So much tech and new things discovered each day. I had to drive 120 mile round trip yesterday. So I put it in hybrid mode to see how that worked. Got home and the gas tank still looks full. Got amazing mileage. I think like 80 MPG. I did drive slow and pulse and glided as much as possible. Have not used a drop of gas in town so far.

Sorry, but I don't see that, just a lot of discordant, pointless styling excercise:

I prefer understated cars-- I still like German styling (but would never buy one for myself), and as far as floating rooflines go, the Maxima will always be my favorite-- but the futuristic styling of the Prime feels right in line with the technology tied to it.

I like the styling of the front of the Prime better than the liftback, but we're talking degrees of ugliness here...

Had to google "the seven stages of grief" after "reading" that, lol. Hey, that's what I went through when the new Prius rolled out. Guess the world has moved on. :)

I had my Blue Advanced at work yesterday and today. I got about 10 out-of-the-blue comments from people saying they loved how it looked. Several people loved the color, including my mother who said she thought it was the sexiest color she'd ever seen. And I just caught a guy in the Home Depot parking lot circling it at a distance of about 2 feet checking it out from all angles.

Out of curiosity, what kind of car was the guy in the Home Depot parking lot driving?................
