Still waiting for our P.Prime to arrive out here in Austin, Texas. I'm wondering how far from the West Coast they've invaded the States. Does anybody here know how to quickly setup a poll whereby we can see how many of us who have **actually received** their P.Primes there are in each state? iPhone ? Pro
Mine was and still is the only one sold at Toyota of Easley. Easley SC. Toyota of Greenville, which is a biggest city in a 100 mile radius of my area, had and still is the only 2 they sold. Next ones were over 150 miles away. #1 in Easley,SC
Delivery to Michigan likely hasn't begun yet; so, that could be misleading. That is the case in Wisconsin. The dealer is having them shipped over from New York.
I've been driving my Blue Magnetism Prime Advanced for a week. Although I picked it up at Toyota of Nashua in Nashua, NH, I live in York, ME. I love that I've been getting almost 65 mpg on my ~64 mile commutes by switching between hybrid mode and EV mode.
In New England I am aware of cars being sold in Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Massachusetts. I don't know about Vermont or Rhode Island at this time as I didn't look that far to try to find stock when I was shopping. I did watch stock in those 4 states go away over time and change. I think you will find that CA emissions states likely have sold them in some quantity this year. As to setting up a poll, I have no idea how to get the poll features on these forums to work so can't answer that. I was amused that bresna bought theirs in NH given I almost drove to Maine to buy ours as there was no stock in MA but there was a car in Saco Maine available when we were looking in November. It was a Plus though so I lost interest quickly.
Although I bought mine in NH, they had to bring it up from Woburn, MA. I wanted the Blue Magnetism Advanced and Toyota of Nashua only had a regular model in Red. BTW, the main reason I bought at Toyota of Nashua is because they have a salesman there named Jim Burrows. He's the most knowledgeable Prius salesman I've met and even better, he is not a high pressure sales guy. I love buying from him. This is my 3rd Toyota hybrid purchase from him.
That is a good reason, last time I went by the dealership in Saco they ended up hounding me for months from 2 states away. What a mistake that was, I only wanted to try out the car they had while I was visiting family up in Maine and should have known better than to give them all my real contact details . They aren't as bad as some places down here though, one dealership took my details when I walked in and then pointed me to where the cars were parked told me to go take a look and tell them if I wanted to buy anything. Then went back to their desk. They had the nerve to call me 5 times after that which I laughed off. I chalked it up to them seeing some crazy looking guy come in wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt who probably couldn't afford the car he was looking at, silly people, like I am going to come in a suit and tie to check out a car .
oops, sorry, there are four, two came in November and December, my Blue Magnetism and a Red , both the advanced model,(directly from Japan) then in February, another red advanced came in (a trade from New York) And then finally a Blizzard Pearl advanced just the other day (I'm assuming the Blizzard Pearl is also a trade from New York haven't been to the dealer to find out)
Growing up in Southern California I heard that the yacht salespeople in Newport Beach learned to pay attention if a scruffy looking bum came in to look at yachts, as more likely than not they were a millionaire.
I've been watching cars dot com to see when my local dealer in Chandler,Az finally received one (I gave up in January and drove to California to get mine). There were only about three in Arizona since December then within the past week, five showed up in Arizona...four in Phoenix and one in Tucson. Not sure if these were ordered for customers, but the one that went to Tucson was identical to the configuration I had ordered back in November that I cancelled when I gave up on my local dealer. Haven't seen any in New Mexico but that's as far as I was looking. There was one in Las Vegas at a "Vegas deal" price for a while, someone must have won some gambling money and purchased it.
I was in the car business for almost 25 years. That idiot salesman that waited on you is an obvious loser. The practice of treating customers based on the clothes that they are wearing is ridiculous. But it's more common than you think. I once waited on a lady at my Jaguar store who was dressed in a bathrobe and slippers. It wasn't my turn to wait on a client, but the other salesman told me to go ahead laughingly. So I waited on the lady took her for a test drive asked her how she liked the car, she said she loved it. She said she would be back sometime today to buy it. The other salesmen just laughed and laughed, telling me that I was an idiot. Long story short, she was back within 3 hours with a brown bag full of money that she had been saving for decades to buy this dream car. I made my $2,500 commission and laughed at the other salesmen. Very few in Washington State. Many dealers have not gotten any. Oregon has a better supply--got ours in November in Oregon.
One of my local dealers in Birmingham, Alabama got 2 in early December. The first was pre-sold, the 2nd we test drove but it was a Plus and we wanted the Advanced. We tried to order, but we're told that Southeastern Toyota (distributor covering 5 southeastern states) told them they couldn't even special order any more for 120 days (which would be up in early to mid- April). I was told the situation was the same with Gulf States Toyota distribution. We bought our's in late December in Maryland, while visiting family for Christmas, and drove it home to Birmingham.
Late January I went to Gateway Toyota in Toms River, NJ just to see and test drive a Prime. They had 2 on the lot and 1 was what I wanted, a Silver Premium, so I ended up buying it. My only complaint was the traction battery was empty. I let the dealer know and the next day they said they were installing charging stations outside. Good for the next buyers.
Another shout out for Jim Burrows! He sold me my Corolla DX Wagon back in 1993, and 292,000 miles later took it as a trade-in (despite it having failed NH State Inspection (corroded rocker-panels) for my current (2009) Prius which I love, even more than the Corolla! Jim Burrows is a great guy, and always treats me fair! Thanks JB!
Michigan has another Red one (Advanced). We visited Troy, and test drove one there - really nice salesman, car was really nice, but wrong options. We found one in Rochester NY (including the still active $2000 mfg rebate), and did a road trip last weekend during the wind storm to get it. Love it! (Did 55mpg into the 45 mph headwind going 55-65 mph during break-in).
I ordered my Prime Advanced on May 31st and picked it up on June 12th in Clarksville, Maryland. I test drove 2 of them at the end of November at 2 different dealerships here (Central Maryland, between Baltimore and D.C.). I saw my first Prime in the wild in March in downtown Baltimore near the National Aquarium. I've seen several on the road in my area in the last 2 months, even another Blue Magnetism. I parked near a Titanium Glow in my local shopping center last week - both of us far away from other parked cars, and I left a space between us
