New owner 2006 with JBL. Audio is just OK. i'm used to my 1998 TL stereo (was Bose). Without putting the car through the torture of a major upgrade, are their simple upgrades that can be done to the standard radio that is included? Would changing the speakers do anything? If not, I'm thinking of just getting a bluetooth bose speaker and using that instead. I noticed BestBuy does installations for $65, but I figure they'll mess up something electrical with the car so trying to avoid as the car works perfectly otherwise.
I don't have any experience with the JBL system, but from my experience on many other cars, upgrading the speakers alone without touching anything else usually nets you a pretty nice sound quality boost. Just make sure you get speakers that can be driven effectively by whatever power output the JBL system has.
Thanks, I was just going to take it to a car audio shop but i don't want it to come out worse than it was before.
Not sure which JBL system you have, but if it has a 'center speaker' then you might try disconnecting that first before spending money or letting someone tear apart or cut up your vehicle. Please let us know how it turns out.
