Replaced ignition coil 4 then 2 and still missing checked the resistance of old coils which seem to match new coil I'm cracking up. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Sorry it has 170kms I'm in ireland brought it to my toyota dealer paid 450 euro so far I replaced long life spark plugs 2 new coil packs as they told me there was a misfire in cylinder 4 and 2. And it's still staggering at low rpm if the hybrid battery is low and at 45 kms when the hybrid battery stops assistance to the car checked the 12v battery aswell it's 12.6 volts. If any 1 could have any ideas much appreciated. Thanks...... Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Welcome. Maybe something in the wires leading to the coils? Is there something common to #2 & #4? Just guessing here. Hope you can chase it down.
Maybe check Exhaust Gas Recirc too, it's been prone to clog by that kms. Not fun to remedy, especially the "cooler".
Yeah the garage had codes saying misfire on cylinder 4 and 2 and another thing is its intermittent also it's happen a lot but the odd time it's ok. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Have you monitored the level in your engine coolant reservoir to make sure you're not loosing coolant? If the car is indeed storing misfire codes (P0302 and P0304 in your case), and it's not a plug/coil issue, head gasket unfortunately becomes a suspect with these motors. At the same time, the car staggering at 45kph is the pretty typical symptom of clogged EGR circuit, as Mendel has pointed out. However, misfire codes are not typically related to this issue. The standard EGR code the Prius will store is P0401, but this issue often manifests without ever coding. So although your performance issue may (or may not) be the EGR circuit, it's the persistant misfire codes which are really cause for concern here, IMO. The EGR issue is more of a performance nuisance than death sentence to the motor.
Water in the gas? Fuel pressure? I'd run some fuel system cleaner. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Thanks I just seen your msg now I actually put some fuel cleaner into the car and it actually has brought the car back to almost 100percent it is very strange there is only a small shuddering the odd time now....... Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Had similar problems turned out that inlet manifold was clogged up,, very common on these I believe Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Taxi drive in Skelmersdale West lancashire, my problem was on wife's car, did the same as you lots of injector cleaner, best fuel and it did feel better but not quite right. If I didn't have a second prius to base it off I would have put it down to mileage or character of the car. Took an hour to take off and clean, no special tools(socket set and screwdriver) and the different was like night and day Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
