BBC News UK warns of 2 foot of snow this weekend for New York up as far as Boston. If you haven't battened down the hatches, it might be an opportunity to test the Prius in snow. Anybody up for it, and best wishes??
I have no plans to drive today; but on previous occasions the Prius holds it own compared to other cars we've owned. We have about 8 - 9 inches so far and the winds are blowing it around. Temps are high 20sF so it's a heavy snow. I've been out a couple of times in the back yard to clear a place for our dog to do his business. He hates the wind and snow.
I often use severe weather to remind Prius people that the car itself can be an emergency power generator with up to 1 kW using a 12V inverter. This can mean the difference between camping out at home or being in a cold dark place. Now I just rail about Toyota not making it an option on all Prius. Bob Wilson
12" of heavy wet stuff here. no driving allowed. just finished shoveling, time for some cabernet and advil. thanks for watching out for us rco, c'est la vie!
"option on all Prius"@4. Well, you know what would happen. Somebody would zap external device(s) or Prius itself and sue Toy Yoda. And win. Argument could be made that this modification, left to the 'inventive', gives Prius owner/operators (POO) just that little bit more smugness. You know you love that - embrace it.
You guys seem to get slugged with snow, late winter, every year. Stay safe, stay home if you don't absolutely need to go out.
In DC we got 3-6 inch of really heavy winter mix, but the interesting thing is the frozen Cherry Blossoms...we are due for record cold next couple nights ~20F which may whack the blossoms before the bloom period. 30 deg F high tomorrow would be record low high..expecting 54F avg this time of year.
Not that savvy, sadly. Hey, we're family, right? Got to look after the kids! Not quite the weather for it right now unless your furnace is roaring, but chilled red wine is great in hot weather. Don't imbibe nowadays, but back in the tropics I remember how nice it was. Time to go snowbirding again????
I'm in Florida. Just BRUTAL here this morning at the office. Actually, though, I really do miss the snow, but at almost 64 years old, maybe not as much as I used to.
My folks live in Northeastern PA. My old man called me yesterday morning and said they had over a foot and he couldn't see the trees at the end of the field it was snowing so hard still. He was going out to plow the driveway before it got too much more accumulation and made it difficult to do so. I told him it was going to be 80 and not a cloud in the sky out here . They'll be out here tomorrow if the airports allow.
If it were up to my mother they would and even move out here. I know the fence would have been fixed without me having to do it if they would heed your suggestion . Still working on it though. Some nuts are tough to crack....
