Now that they have recovered the bodies of the two U.S. soldiers who were captured the other day what do you think - that POW's were murdered in cold blood?

Do you expect international bodies like the Red Cross or Amnesty International to be vocal? Do you expect any instruments of justice to become involved. Will the U.N. say or do anything? What about the Geneva Conventions?

Why is it that U.S. troops are the only ones that have a 100% fear of being tortured and murdered if captured? Do you think we should do what we did when the Japanese started beheading U.S. POW's?

I am interested in how you feel.

I think it is atrocious, barbaric, against anything any "real" religion teaches. It's far below any moral value we as Americans hold.

It's terrible that this occurs and I'm terribly sad for the soldiers and esp. for their families.

I think we need to continue our efforts in Iraq to end the insurgency and bring an end to the atrocities like this.

IF and that is a big if, if there are actually 256,000 trained Iraqi Security Forces on the ground in Iraq, then maybe Murtha is right. Lets redeploy our forces back into Kuwait where they can be used as a quick reactionary force when needed. Not bring them back to the states, redeploy them. We can still have 130,000 US forces, but just not have ALL of them in Iraq and subjected to these kinds of attacks on a daily basis.

To be fair to my liberal friends, this is one conservative who understands the hesitancy in presenting a strongly held position in the face of such evil. These incidents don't galvanize them like they do us. They don't reinforce the belief that "staying the course" is the way to go, but rather it reinforces their belief that a better way should have been tried from the beginning to avoid all of this.

I disagree, but I respect how they feel. But now is not the time to argue about it.

Our focus now should be on these men and their families, how we should honor them and their memory. For some of us, that will be to hold back on partisan political positions out of respect for the dead. There will be time for us to wage our war of words, and we can refer to incidents like this in an oblique manner, after a respectable length of time.

God bless these men, and their families, and their friends who are still there, serving beside them.

Horrifying and disgusting. These insurgents have no respect for life... none whatsoever.

    Okm36,

I don't know what to say to that, but I STRONGLY disagree... but is totally understandable.

    Sad.

I am sure that you will not hold two parties in the same conflict to two different standards of conduct - or would you? I wonder how you felt (feel) about Abu Graib and how you feel about these two American POW's who were tortured and BEHEADED?

How do you feel when trouble befalls us vs. when it occurs to them? If you can use news to bash President Bush does that give you a warm feeling inside? If the US were to lose this war - how would you feel - happy?

It is tough to hijack America when we have elections every two years and a representative democracy that votes on things like going to war - no? Or is Bush that smart that he outwitted the Democrats?

I find it sad that you can not even find a bit of sympathy for these two young men or honor them in the cause they volunteered for and gave their lives for. Your silence is deafening and enlightening.

    Thank you Frank,

Yes I am a liberal and often times disagree with your viewpoint, but with a reasoned discussion on topics, we might not agree, but through comprimise can usually come up with a solution that benefits the greater good. The name calling on the other hand does no good.

The one point all can agree on however is this is a dispicable act against humanity, period! As for what should we do, I don't know, but lowering ourselves to anything aproaching their level is not the response of a civilized people.

Really, what's this arbitrary concept people keep slinging around like day old hash about "their level"? Really, I never totally understood this concept, I think it is shallow, hollow, and costs us far more than the artifical prestige is appears to be.

    I have the perfect solution:

F'in close off, and encircle any problem city in Iraq. Don't let anyone in or out, give them one week to hand over the insurgents or the city gets atomized off the map.

To let them know we're not BS'ing, atomize Falluja first as an example.

Murtha actually wanted to redeploy troops to Okinawa and Kerry wanted some of them stationed over 6000 miles away!! BaHaHahahahaha! BTW eyeguy not one word of outrage? I betcha you'd scream bloody hell if we sent anymore terrorist to Guantanamo and fed them 3 square a day and supplied them with free medical care and reading material. You sir and the sort that is the far left of the Democratic Party are some piece of work.

You can't say one thing against these murderers? Shameful and anyone that defends this type of response is also shameful and I'm not talking about his 1st Amendment rights I'm addressing only the comments.

And this is the reasoned response from some on the right? Attack the vets that fought for your right to spew this trash. Then turn arround and attack one of our servicemen. My, aren't you proud of yourself. :(

I am one 'the vets that fought for your right to spew this trash' and I say go ahead.

The truth, whatever it is, is more important than the politically driven motivations of 2 former military officers who now only care about reelection.

Yes it is. There should be rage in every American after learning what happened to these two American POW's. Do you not feel it?

The trouble is we should not grant them any rights which they do not earn in the conduct of warfare. Not one American should mention in the same breath as these terrorists:

    Geneva Conventions
Judicial rights or representation outside of US Military Law
    Hamden vs. Rumsfeld
    Abu Graib
    Closing Gitmo

Catch em try em and fry em - I know its wrong but that is how I feel today.
And give American troops in harms way lots of leeway

Is it reasonable to station troops in a country that does not want us especially when we are relocating it elsewhere? Is it reasonable to demand that we redeploy troops so far away from the area needed? Yes I will attack these ideas anytime, anywhere and with my best efforts if those ideas are harmful to our country. Remember Benedict Arnold also fought for our rights and freedoms at one time and as far as I'm concerned these men I mentioned above will cause as great a harm as he did for nothing other than political gain.
