I think it looks amazing. But.... I can't help thinking what a nightmare it would be to clean that grill after an unfortunate evening drive through a swarm of mayflies and such, LOL Overnight Prius Addict 2009 Prius 4 Black 2012 Prius 4 Blizzard Pearl 2013 Prius 4 Black
Thanks, everyone. I decided on the used 19,000 mile 2014/pkg 5 with technology package. It has just enough upgrades from my current 132,000 mile 2010/pkg 4, and saves me about $13k from the price of a similar new 2017.
And its not even due for it's second oil change! Congrats. A related question for all, Why do some people buy a Prius when they drive so few miles per year? Seems like a conventional car would make more sense?
Saving money on gasoline is still saving money no matter how many miles one drives. Also, used Prii can have some tech advantages over other used cars in similar price range and there's the environmental factor that appeals to some buyers. Also, most likely very few people would have heard that the battery does better when driven more, unless they spend a lot of time on this forum.
So, I should have got a Camry for the same price as my Prius? Why would I do that? I need more space than a Corolla.
It's not just about improved mpg saving money on gas. It's the new "muscle" car. The "performance" factor is being replaced by "efficiency" and "clean". Owners like a car that doesn't idle needlessly, takes advantage of low loading to shut down, supplements engine grunt with electric motor, recoups momentum to charge a battery. Also, the Prius has a very good payload, a decent hauler. At least in our case, situations change. When we bought, over six years back, it was my wife's daily driver for her work. We were putting on about 15,000 km's yearly, not bad. My wife retired maybe three years later, about a year later I retired; the car is now only seeing about 7,000 km's yearly. Garage stored, turning into a museum piece, lol.
You could buy an older (maybe 2012 or 2013) G3 and drive it for 5+ years. At that point, you should be able to find a lot of used Prius Primes at great prices. I have a feeling it will become a popular car as soon as gas prices increase. I'm lusting after the G4 but with only 46K miles on my G3 it will be a long time before I buy one!
