The cup holders suck in the prius. One is square shaped and the 2nd one is just too damn wide. Most of my normal cups/travel mugs etc move around a lot and some even tip over and fall out when they are nearly empty. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make them fit better ?

I often use the ones for the rear seats for actual drinks instead of the front two. (Flip down the back of the console...if you haven't found these yet.)

at least you HAVE cup holders. When I drive thougfh, I turn to my cup holder and ask it what it wants to eat (passenger)

I'm looking forward to my Prius cup holders. I drive a Honda CRV now. The CRV HAS to take the award for the worst cup holders in history. Take a curve at almost any speed and your cup flies across the car and out of reach or under your feet along with what was in it.
Try using different cups. Our last car had cup holders that fit ceramic coffee cups perfectly, but anything else tipped over on the first turn. The Prius works better with travel mugs, cans, and bottles, but not ceramic coffee cups. Our solution was to buy some travel mugs that fit well and use these. Tom

You could rubber band a few thicknesses of handkerchief (or any rag/cloth) around the bottom of your cup. I went to about a dozen stores looking for a thermal container the bottom of which fit closely.
The only problem I have ever had is with too alrge of cups, but then again i do live in California where every drink is huge! LOL, not really, I have had everything from travel mugs to small drinks, everything fits fine, except Del Taco's XL Fiesta Cup at the moment, it only fits in the back cup holder, not the front one. I find the square shape comes in handy from time to time, if I have and odd shapped item, i.e. I bought my Fiancee flowers once and used it to hold the vase, it worked great!

My 2 cents I have found them to be fine for most any purchased coffee, water, etc (except one very portly 1 liter bottle of spring water (Saratoga Water). In fact, the first month or so I refused to bring anything BUT water into the car! My old car, the cup holder broke 2 winters ago. It had these foam rubber tabs that secured the cup tight as you put it through the hole. Well, it was sooooo cold one day , I think it was 15 below 0, (Farenheit for our Canadian readers), and I forced the cup down & it snapped off one of the foam/rubber tabs. After that, the only way I could keep a cup was to stuff a bunch of napkins on the side of the cup.
Glue in chunks of foam? . My ol' Subie also had a spring-loaded tab in the center-console cupholder, presumably to take up the slack from a small container. . _H*
