Does the head-up display (on select models - not referring to the multi-information display above the center console's HU screen) function at all if you aren't using the OEM head unit? I'd like to replace the HU in my 3rd gen Prius and am fine losing the GPS arrows on the HUD but don't want to lose speed and engine info too.
The HUD part number is 83108-47020. I see from images online it has a 24pin port on it. Not sure what that plugs into (I'm assuming the HUD) and haven't been able to find any wiring diagrams for it.
I believe all model years since at least 2010 offered the HUD on at least one trim level. I think it is much more common (standard even?) in some markets (like Japan and Germany). In the USA I think models 2012-2015 had the HUD on Trim level 4 (with the solar roof), and 5 (with the Advanced Technology Package).
