Am I presuming correctly that the P.Prime already includes "Intelligent Drive Coach," or "Predictive Efficient Drive" feature? That, as opposed to it being a separate option to purchase? iPhone ? Pro
yes. i believe if you have a regular commute, it can learn the accel/decel, stops turns and etc., and help you save gas if you're not that good a driver.
Predictive Efficient Drive is only available on Premium and Advanced models. The Coach is for everyone and it works great. Takes some getting used to, but really improves your efficiency.
Thanks. (Actually, I intended to stipulate P.Prime Advanced in particular as presumably having it.) iPhone ? Pro
I've always had a lead foot, the IDC is helping me do a lot better Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Good to hear! I'm rather the opposite; far from a hot-rodder. I also stop at stop signs. No, really; I actually stop. iPhone ? Pro
I have noticed a few things that make me think it's the PED's work. When I cruise towards a turn or a stop, the car starts to regent more aggressively a few hundred feet prior to the stop/turn, so I don't need to break myself, until the very end. It seems to learn where I accelerate more aggressively (like a steep hill) to maintain speed and adjust the blue bar to let me use more energy without penalizing my Eco score. It took some time for the system to learn my driving routes, but I see the difference now.
That's a cool feature! I'm starting to get generational envy. I keep reminding myself, the PiP is a great car, I just got it for a great price, and in a few years, wife will be needing a replacement. She is NOT gonna want a hand me down PiP, though.
Does that mean it works only when NAV is in use? And it is expecting the turn as your route is suggesting? or you are noticing it even without NAV enabled? I am not sure I feel any difference but it might just be me stopping the last few seconds lol
It works with or without the nav. I use Waze, as I find Toyota's routing to be...inefficient and completely unaware of the realtime traffic. The feature may not be turned on. I recall enabling it when I was exploring the setting when I first got the car. I think..
You can turn On/Off PED via the Menu --> Settings --> Traffic screen and check/unchecking the "Use Predictive Traffic" per below: The above screen has it turned off. You'll see the blue check active when it is enabled. If it's enabled, the car will use traffic info to let you know when you may need to take you foot off the gas pedal based on data it has captured on your route. As you drive around, it stores the different places that you have stopped at. This information can be shown/hidden on the navigation via the map information display Option by checking the "Predictive Efficient Drive" as shown below: Once you have enabled this data, your map will include a green leaf for each spot that you have stopped at before. Any time you approach these location, the system will let you know if you need to take your foot off the accelerator based on the traffic. Here is a picture with the "Green Leaf" data shown:
