According to Jalopnik the front bumper skin consists of 3 separate sections, so in case of minor corner hit it is not needed to replace the entire bumper.
This may explain the all-black (unpainted) center section, if it was painted then replacing and repainting a corner section could leave color non-uniformity between the sections.

iduno ... doesn't speed factor into replacement ? as well as the vehicle you make contact with ?

With so many flimsy bumpers now days - just a thought - there might be a few other variables.

Speed you get smashed into with - necessitating replacement, actually.
tideland, the ioniq did away with the 12v aux lead/acid battery & just pulls 12v DC off the traction pack - which would mean the car necessarily won't lose its driver specific settings. Do you know if that's the case with the prime? ...

Both generation 4 Prius' have 12V batteries under the hood. It's charged by the hybrid system so there's no alternator.

i guess a 'minor corner hit' would pretty well define low speed.

No. The Prime still has a 12V lead-acid under the hood in the same place as the Gen 4.

I guess i was just hoping they'd found a way to save a lot of the data that gets lost when a car loses aux power. Maybe next gen.

Is not some of this data written to the SD card?

I suppose it turns on which options your Toyota has. We lose auto window up functions, auto sunroof memories, drivers 1&2 seat memories, music stations etc. We've gotten around this anoyance by attaching a variable DC power supply when cleaning terminals or removing the battery for other reasons.

So the Prime is like the original Plug-In, in that the traction battery is physically disconnected until the system goes into Ready state or is being charged? The 12-v battery is needed to power the control system to bring the traction battery online.

Suppressing the shaking of the vehicle according to the unevenness of the road.

    Sprung vibration damping control
By controlling the torque of the motor in real time according to the unevenness of the road surface, it suppresses vertical pitching (pitching) of the car body, contributing to a smooth and flat ride comfort.

This sounds similar to the Prius v's "Pitch & Bounce Control".

This is the first time I've heard of it in the Prime.

In Colorado this law is simplified. Headlights must be on if it's raining. Otherwise do you have to turn your lights on when you clean your windshield?

In my advanced, in the fuse box under the hood, there is a fuse removal tool and 3 spare fuses !

    Fuze_Prius_Prime.JPG
The tool is on the lid.

The green, yellow and red fuses on the left are the spares.

There appears to be no extra access ports into the box.

Since I've lived in Colorado all my life, and never heard this rule, I went in search of it. I can't find it and I don't think it exists.

The Colorado driver's manual says, "Colorado law requires you to drive with your headlights on from sunset to sunrise or when visibility is less than 1,000 feet."

AAA says: "Headlights are required to be on between sunset and sunrise, and when visibility is less than 1000 feet."

In the Prius Prime, after going into an automatic contactless wash, you are not left with that soapy mess under the rear tail fin.

ahh . . . yes - THAT feature. iirc Tesla had that when the Model S came out - what ... 1/2 decade ago? in fact they even have the car's image, the same color as the car you're in. Is that the same as the Prime?
