Looking it over at the moment I am now thinking of a Three. I have a feeling that the HUD would be too much of a distraction for me, so I can save the money and not get the ATP. I live practically right next to Toyota of Bowie, so I'll probably be going there when I feel I am ready. Of course I should be able to test drive one with with the ATP and see just how it is. As predicted, my wife was thrilled with the idea of giving up the spare. She has had one or two situations where she needed it in the past as well. Still, I'll give it more thought. Thanks
There are 2 things on my PRIUS I wouldn't be without - one is the RADAR Cruise The other is the HUD. I rarely look over at the instruments, as the HUD is in just the right spot. And, they suit my glasses as well - the multi-focals mean that the dashboard isn't necessarily in the right place and I have to move my head a little to make it clear, but the HUD is in the distance field and always in focus.
Welcome, and best luck choosing your new car. Sorry if I got on a rant.. we have our opinions about what is important. Of course, mine is correct all 2017 models come standard TSS-P so I'm not sure what ATP would add..
I would suggest considering the Prius Prime and not just the regular Liftback. You will get better gas mileage and after tax credit of $4500 end up paying less than a regular Prius Liftback with the equivalent trim options. #1 in Easley,SC
That would depend also on whether you ever need to seat 5 people - the PRIME is only a 4 seater. Sadly not available here.
That wouldn't be an issue if you were looking at choosing to get a Liftback without a spare. Other than that, true too. #1 in Easley,SC
Prime would be better deal though of course four seater only, less hatch storage. Seems no rear wiper might be an issue due to shape of rear hatch according to what an owner posted here.
I went with the 4 touring -- for us the T gave us the options we wanted w/o the HUD. I normally get the glass moon roof on my cars for the extra light into the cabin .. with all the glass in a Prius I have not missed it with our two Gen 3's fives ... was the correct move with the Gen 4 even in Black/Black. If you open yours often you may feel differently. I started out looking at the 3 .. and quickly discovered the the 3T was a better fit option/ safety wise --- Plus many of the 3's came with the expensive roof that I did not want. The difference in price between the 3T and 4T made the 4T an easy choice for us. We keep our cars a long time .. I would rather have the few options over the 6 year ownership ... I took the 6 year 0% financing for the full cost of the car. When we bought our Gen 3's Toyota was giving 5y 0% .. we have over 150k on those 5 year old Gen 3's .. still going strong. I can only think of one time in 20 years where we needed a spare tire and that was a pot hole that took out a low profile tire on my Jaguar. Between my personal and business cars ...15 vehicles. It not a concern to me.
Thanks for all the suggestions and information. Decided to go for a Prius 3. I'll be picking it up today. Got a decent trade-in on my 2008 Prius.
Definitely agree.... I do have full spare just to satisfy myself.....and i keep in the car when i go places where is hard to get emergency tire service....other than that save some cash and use Envelope to have it only for Emergency tire service Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Congratulations!!! Note some here were able to get the dealer to throw in the Spare and all the trimmings as part of the deal. I have a 2016 4 and just love that HUD....
