I'm in the process of finalizing a purchase on a 2017 Prius Two. The dealer I'm working with right now is quoting me extra for a particular model they have in inventory that includes a "shift column black out package" that they want to upcharge for. I've tried searching to find out what this is but haven't come up with anything. Can anyone advise what this package is and what it looks like compared to not having this option? Thanks!
It is likely the shifter part of this package. The Trim Two just needs the shifter applique. 2016 Prius Lower Console/Shifter Appliqué Package - OEM - PriusChat Shop How much is the charge? I would not pay more than $50 for it based on an online search.
Thanks, he sent me photos after I posted. That's what it is. They want another $450 for it, which I'm unwilling to do
You can get it with the console applique for $300 at PC shop! shifter applique only at Amazon for $58.10 console applique at amazon for $146.50
don't blame you, since it is a $50. piece as pp says above. then again, you have to weigh out the purchase in its entirety.
It does look pretty nice from the photos I've seen on here now, saw a set on ebay for $178 I believe, which I'd probably end up wanting to do if I found one without it
Correct. The console on the Two is matte black. If they blacked out the steering wheel, that would be different. I have not seen that in the US.
Perhaps if the OP sleeps on it for some time, he'll come to like the white trim as it grows on him. After all, is really good when night driving she the the warm white led in the overhead unit glows dimly on it you can see everything clearly yet not lose your night vision. It won't be as good with the black trim!
Except for the fact this "package" is already installed on a vehicle they are considering purchasing. I would not expect the dealer to "remove" the package and sell the car for a lower price.
Hmm. I've looked back again and the dealer is trying to sell him a pack to cover the white bits, or am I going even more Doolally?
I wonder if they'll nix the gloss white at the mid-gen update?? Probably not, too much loss of face? This is maddeningly absurd: to foist a widely unpopular treatement on buyers, and then charge exorbitantly for a few makeshift plastic pieces to cover it up.
Then there's chaps like me who like the washroom furnishings. Now if only I could find the faucets...
I'm not sure - quite a few people have had a glance inside mine ('tis the only 2016 PRIUS any of them had seen close up), and so far, they've all liked the white features, with comments like "brightens it up".
I love the white features - I have the black interior and white provides a nice pop. I think the black covers look cheap because it is very apparent they are covers and not built in things. No way would I pay $450 for those.
It's not unheard of 2004-2005: Satin silver trim 2006-2009: Bright silver trim 2010-2011: Silver trim 2012-2015: Ok they didn't change it but they added even more silver trim (centre console). In the current Camry, they removed the "metallic-tech" trim on the hybrid models after the 2014 refresh.
