Hello all my name is Jeff and i purchased a 2015 prius plug-in advanced last week after my 09 Jetta TDI got killed. Just Pardon me moaning like a baby. I dont really need anything but i felt like saying howdy as i have already used some of the threads on here to do an oil change, replace a flat tire and install a front-rear dashcam. I was going to replace the CVT fluid wile i was doing the oil change (33k miles) but i remembered i did not have any easy way to put the new fluid in. The ICE air filter looked great so now i have an extra and the cabin filter is on the agenda to do later today. If anyone feels like chatting about what other items i need to consider doing maintenance on i would appreciate it.
congrats, and welcome to the pip club. at 50k, i haven't done anything but oil, filters and tires. all the best!
Gear fluid should not need changing at a 33K interval (or even anything remotely like it). Unlike engine oil or regular automatic transmission fluid, the PSD oil isn't constantly subject to high heat and friction. The maintenance guide I found online doesn't show a fluid change for the PSD in the first 100K miles. Gear oil in differentials and similar environments should last a very long time.
Ouch! That sounded like it hurt. We were in my wife's '05 Prius, sitting at a light a little over a year ago and got nailed from behind by a bonehead doing at least 60. Replaced it with an '07. Just finally got all the medical part of insurance settled on Friday. You have my sympathy, but also congratulations on the PiP. I got mine this past December rather than pay for some expensive brake and and water pump repair. Absolutely LOVE the PiP! Welcome to PC. These folks have taught me a lot.
I just bought an 08 in socal as well. Very jealous that you get the HOV sticker! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Sorry about the crash, You will love your PIP. This place is great and will help you out like your HOV sticker. Enjoy.
I'm starting to look into using the torque app and before I start pestering other threads I figured I would ask here to see if I get any replies as what the best value wireless odb2 scanner was. thanks for any replies.
Welcome to PC. I have read on here that even the cheap ones on Amazon work but Carista is the best. However the cost is much higher, though their phone app will work with most odb2 dongles even if they can't read every Prius code. For what it's worth, I'd get a cheap one first if it works, great! If not you didn't lose many $$.
