JBL system and TYTO rear speakers not working

I just installed a cheap xd vision xd107 head with a TYTO-01 harness in my 2005, and the rear speakers give no sound. When I fade to the back, the front speakers stay on, but get a bit muddy. I've checked all the connections. The amp has power through the blue and white wire. Any ideas why this would happen?

I'm also putting in New JBL speakers in the front doors. Any advice?

 

So I put these into the front doors tonight:
JBL GTO638 6.5-Inch 3-Way Speakers (Pair)

They were $50 for the set and rated at 2ohms, so they were a match for the factory speakers. The sound is a million times better. They have tweeters built in, so combined with the JBL system tweeter, there is a lot of high end, but pumping the bass a bit evens it out.

I looked around and couldn't find a simple guide for installing aftermarket speakers into a 05-09 Prius JBL system. Maybe I'll make one. It was easier than I though it would be. The only real alteration I had to make was the plastic elbow that plugs into the speaker needed to be carefully broken apart to expose the speaker connections.I popped out the factory speaker and used the original housing instead of drilling out the rivets like so many tutorials do. It was plug and play after that. The 6.5 to 6.75 ring was not a perfect fit, but snug enough to seal and not rattle.

Simple, affordable upgrade. I recommend it.

Still have no sound from the back speakers. I wonder if it's how the new head is driving the amp?

Any ideas?

So the HU wouldn't sync Bluetooth two days ago, so I decided to replace it with a double din and the back speakers are now working. Guess my description stating cheap HU should have been a clue. The new JBL speakers sound so much better than the stock speakers in the back, I plan on putting the JBLs in the rear as well.

I did the 68ohm resistor trick, but I haven't soldered in years, so I just shoved the resistor into the 9 and 10 position of the harness and wrapped it in electrical tape. Not pretty, but it worked.

The new HU had a backup camera port and a sub port, so I got a $14 backup camera and hooked it up. Getting at the 12volt battery is a pain, so for now I taped the wires down to the battery terminals with electrical tape. Honestly, the entire job is a trainwreck hack, but it all works perfectly, and all of the wires are hidden.

I did completely destroy the vent trim around the shifter, if you pull wrong those things crack easily! So if anyone has a hookup for a replacement vent trim piece I would be all over it.

I'll post pictures soon. Might give you guys a good laugh.

 

Oh, and I plan on hacking a sub onto the rca cable I left coming out of the dash.

 

Those JBL I listed above are a perfect match at 2ohms and at 50$ a pair won't break the bank. I've had then in about a month and am even happier then when they were first installed.

Installation was pretty easy. Take off the door cover and pop out the old speakers then pop the new ones in with the included ring. The only trick is breaking apart the connection while keeping the speaker connections in tact.
