Yea, forward them to me and I'll give it a whirl - but I'm stuck on the eastern coast for a week.

I didn't think about alot of that - I'll have to experiment more.

    :)

Hi All, Am I still in time for the Group Buy. I plugged my ipod into the Scion and it sounded great so I was a little disappointed when I found that in my new prius it was not so simple. So I'm game for getting this unit.

Hopefully I'm still in time. I have a 2006 Package 3, no nav system. Just the aux jack.

    Thanks!!! cj

They're still working on the 06 version, so you're still fine.

I'm still confused on the Random and Repeat buttons. Are they active on the unit being sold now through this buy?

If not, are there plans to make those buttons active? If so, will there be a way to update the firmware once the unit is installed.

I know these issues have been discussed but I don't remember a final-final word on these.

    Thanks,

    repeat question:

can someone please confirm that the DICE connects to the back of the radio in an 06 using only a single plug, and that the remaining several plugs on the supplied cables are either un-used or used to attach the cables to one another, and then to the DICE box?

i really want to contribute my info to DICE, but i want to make sure i've hooked things up properly.

    cheers.

Nav Unit adapter cable: about 6" V Shaped
Cable from radio/adapter to electronics box: 22"

Insert the Nav Unit Adapter bottom of V into radio. Then attach the 22" cable into one of the ends of the V cable.

You will not get Artist/Album/Title on a 2006. They are working on it, but haven't finished it yet. It works fine with a 2004-2005.

Do you really have a second gen iPod? According to the Dice instruction sheet the 3G is the oldest supported version. I have the 3G and others in my family have the Video and the Nano and all of the units work well with the Dice. I do have a 2005 though.

My order is now in, so I'll be warming up the iPod mini after its long rest.

Still thinking about a self-install, but ready to visit Circuit City...

Shouldn't be that hard, I think. The only part I'm worried about is the upper dash where my POWER button is.

It's simple. You only have to remove one vent and the lower glove box. You don't have to tear the dash apart and you don't go anywhere near the power button.

It really takes 5 minutes to hook it up.

Yes, if it's similar to the installation of the VIAS AIC-100i, it shouldn't be too hard.

I used the VAIS install instructions. It was an identical procedure. I can't imagine paying anyone to do it.

Before the Dice installation I've never had any part of my dash apart. Within a very short time I had the unit working. I also used the VAIS instructions and it was simple. The lower dash pops apart without using any tools. All you need for the passenger left vent is a regular screwdriver and a piece of cloth to cover it so when you pop the top part of the vent away you won't damage the plastic.

I just finished installation. I'm glad I have small hands. I spent a good while trying to plug in what I thought was the correct cable. Got out a mirror and realized that the plug was way to big for the spot.

Turns out (after a call to DICE) in some 04s one needs to plug the short cable bundle into the back of the radio. Then plug that into the longer cable (with the blue & purple wire).

I'm not having much luck switching between "albums". I've tried selecting disc 3 as per the directions with no luck. Any words of wisdom? I find the DICE instructions clear as mud.

The D3 (Album) works within a D2 (Playlist), so create a Playlist with all Albums. Select that playlist and then D3 will work the way you think it should. Otherwise create individual playlists by genre or artist and then you can use D3 to skip between the albums within that specific playlist.

Another thing you can do, if you don't want to setup the playlists, use the ipod controls to select Albums, All, All then when you use D3 it will skip between the albums.

Got my unit today for my 05 Prius, there's a couple of issues I was hoping someone can help me with.

First off, so far it's not always recognizing the unit when I turn the car on, doesn't show a CD Changer connected. I'll restart the car, unplug and plug the ipod back in, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Secondly, when using the D3 (Album) to go forward and back between albums, when you hit text it only shows "Album" for the Artist, the song title does show however. Seems that the Artist name shows only when you hit D1 (track) and navigate that way. So when searching for a specific album, only the 1st song title for each album shows while the Artist says "Album". Finding a specific album is hard unless you recognize the song or know the song title.

Anyone else experiencing either of these issues?

Also, does anyone know the switch positions for the mode where you get text and can't use the ipod controls, and it doesn't have the 10 second initilization?

Can't answer for the first point, other than what version iPod? Is the adapter plug and cord good and solid in the radio?

Second point. That is normal for the unit. We recommended showing the Album name and Playlist name, but that wasn't programmed.

Third, Ipod Config switches: both up = DICE mode
both down = iPod mode (no initialization)

I'm using 2 different nanos. I checked all the connections several times. Those plugs are really tight, almost impossible to disconnect. I'll keep messing with it and see if I can get it to work consistently.

do you think they'll ever program the album and playlist name, I think that's a big feature a lot of people would like.

this is the switch position I was asking about:
"UR Mode: Locks out iPod controls, but there is no lag in the system. Still has steering wheel and headunit controls"

    thanks for the reply
