I've looked through the printed brochure as well as the Specifications on the Toyota website, but it never actually tells anywhere...is Prius front wheel drive?
And it is a very refined front drive. It doesn't have any drive train related pull characteristics that I have noticed. Plus, it has very good winter handling, so long as you have decent rubber underneath it. The tires Toyota ships with the car are not all that great during the winter, but passable if your winter is mild or just wet. But there is much better rubber out there.
Thanks guys. I imagined it was, but just couldn't find it documented anywhere. My last front wheel drive vehicle was a 1980 Honda Accord Hatchback (my first brand-new car and it was only $5,700!) Back then, front wheel drive was a big deal and still something of an oddity. But it was a great improvement in the snow. Since then, I've had 6 different 4X4 vehicles. Snow can be a problem here, it certainly was this year, but I'm keeping the 4X4 in part as a foul weather vehicle. Thanks for the advice on the stock tires.
'05 Prius is down to 28 mpg. It is winter here now. What the heck is going on? Anybody, any theories....within reason. No extraterrestrial stuff. Please. I got 58 mpg on a trip to and from upstate ny with the a/c going. Now i got nut-n-honey.
