One week- which was an astonishingly good thing as we were driving a rental at the time, and the average wait was 4-6 weeks. Someone canceled and we placed our money down that day. Picked it up the next week. Not the color we wanted (black) but it had package 4 which was within our budget. Love it and the gas mileage. Drove 125 miles with the gas bar reading full and not moving.
Either 30 minutes or about 3 hours, depending on whether you count the time between when I walked in the door and agreed to buy my Priuses, or if you count the time between when I walked in the door and when I drove away in my new Prius. I pulled off spur-of-the-moment walk-in buys of two Priuses, about 8 months apart last year. My father, who lives about 8 hours away, walked into a dealer and drove away in a Prius back in January. Of course, in all three cases, we took what was on the lot. Turns out that they are all Silver. Mine is a #6 2005, my wife's is a #4 2005, and my father's is a mid-level 2006.
Mine was a 4 week wait, back in June'05. Told them what I wanted, and I would take a Silver or a White, Which ever came in first. Lola arrived 4 weeks later in a beautiful Silver. I have been so happy!
2 hours! Went for test drive, there were 2 on lot, both supposedly spoken for. The folks who had the Salsa #6 lost their loan Friday, I had money on Monday and it was mine. I had wanted Salsa, was not terribly committed to package and was very happy with the whole thing.
I got lucky too. I was on a business trip and ended up with a Prius as a rental from Hertz. Life-chainging experience. I had a 2003 Lexus LS 430 and the Prius couldn't compare in plushness and quietness (sound dampening materials in all 4 doors made it Lexus-quiet now) but I still fell in love with the Prius. After a day of driving it, I called my local Toyota dealer I bought my Sienna from and asked if he could get me a Prius in black and I want all the options. He said there was one on the lot. BAM gave him a deposit with my credit card info for deposit. SOLD! I am trading my Prius for a Lexus RX400h now so if you want a great price and no wait check out my ad here.
Ordered it last September. I did NOT want to receive it until January on account of the tax credit. Started calling the dealer after the 1st of the year, had it January 24.
When I ordered the car, '06 Driftwood #8, the dealer said it could be anywhere from 30 to 90 days. Three weeks later he called and said it was in.
I waited five months for my Prius. But, I ended up getting the exact model and color that I "ordered."
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Jack Straw @ Jun 14 2006, 07:26 PM) </div> Sounds like your car and mine might be coming off the ship that is docking in Long Beach this weekend. I don't how long it takes to get to Arizona but the next ship is not expected until July per this site. http://www.toyofuji.co.jp/english/ships/index.html
I waited about two weeks. We visited several dealers in the So Cal area. Most had 0 to 2 used Prius (is that the plural form of Prius?). We talk to several sales people. About half of the dealers wanted $500, but I did not want to commit to them. We left our number with several staff of the other dealers. A couple of weeks later, our car came in and my wife rushed down, signed some papers, and drove it off of the lot. Sweet!
I had to wait from the time it took the salesman to leave my house with the FJ Cruiser (to see if it fit in my garage) and drive back to my house with the Pruis and paperwork. About an 1 hour I would say
I ordered mine at a nearby dealership back in February and was told 6-8 weeks. After 8 weeks, I was told it would be another 6-8 weeks. I lost faith in the dealer and I went to the net. A seaarch of all dealers within 90 miles came upon one with two on the lot. A trip there with my checkbook and I was able to put a deposit on a Prius with everything I wanted for less money than I was ready to spend nearby. I drove my Prius home the next day.
After our first "test drive" (rented an '04 for the weekend) back in 2004, we ordered a Silver Pine Mica #7 on 4/13/06. Salesman called back a few weeks later and asked how set in stone our first choice was. We changed our picks to a few different colors and packages and continued to wait. The salesman called on 5/26/06 and said there was a Seaside Pearl #4 coming in soon and wanted to know if we were interested. Of course we said yes and the wait continued. On 6/13/06 salseman called to say car was minutes away and we would have it Friday, Saturday or Monday. All three days passed with no word on the car. Finally the car arrived on 6/14/06, of course they had to service it so we continued to wait. We finally took delivery on 6/16/06 and could not be happier. The wait was not bad at all considering we were initially told it would be 3-4 months.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Jack Straw @ Jun 16 2006, 09:13 PM) </div> Seems that these dealers are real communicative when they are trying to sell something that they have 200 of and nobody wants. I walked out of one dealership last week that "promised to beat the deal where I have a deposit. May have to take the same tactics as you if I don't hear something soon.
Ordered my 06 in November and the dealer received the car mid March and picked up shortly thereafter from the dealer. Traded in my 05 Prius.
I understand the wait depends on where you live (the coast states' waits are longer than the central part of the country). I understand in the Northwest there's a 3-5 week wait. I ordered mine at the end of May, and it was in after about 2-1/2 weeks. I think that's because I was pretty open on package and color. The more specific you are, the longer the wait (or so I understand).
