Yeah it needs two lights, one on each side.

The rear hatch light also needs to be enabled when the vehicle is prepared at the dealer. Perhaps @Prius Team might pass this on to 'the powers that be.'

Upon further reflection, I wonder why a switch is needed? I don't remember that in the Gen-1 or Gen-3. Also, the light seems 'dim' or rather lacks the brilliance of modern, white LEDs.

it's more of an off switch, than on/off. i guess if you were leaving the hatch open, you might not want to drain the battery. but the gen 4 shuts it off after 20 minutes. i don't think mine has that feature.
have they added that to all the interior lights?

Both Gen 2 and Gen 3 had switches. The Gen 1 probably didn't because it was a sedan.

Yeah I think it's changed for Gen 4 to include all lights including trunk. Gen 2 and 3 battery-saver feature only included the interior dome lamps (but not map lights).

Yeah, that led to one 12V battery charging.

Given that the Prius is used for hauling, either add a second light or have one really bright one overhead. It can get dark if you have a box that blocks the light. I already switched mine to LEDs (natural white so it looks like incandescent)

That's why I can't bring myself to buy new. Way too much $$$ to not get exactly what I want. It's much easier to be content when buying used at 1/2 price or less :)

Something else for you to try, Bob:

White No 2016 Toyota Prius Luggage Compartment Light Bulb | Super Bright LEDs

I don't know what fits and what doesn't, but they range from 5 lumens to 350 lumens. The base is probably close to 5.

Ya it annoys me that a 2018 Kia Rio has CarPlay and Android Auto and our Prii have broken voice commands. It probably steers away tons of people from Toyota.

To each their own, but the audio system in a car ranks pretty much at zero priority for me.

I just want a couple of things:

True Lane Keep Assist that works like my 2010 ATP Prius did. (wonderfully)
The Entune app suite to consistently work. I can pull into the grocery store lot listening to Pandora, park, get groceries, and when I drive away the screen will either say 'Pandora unable to start, try again' or 'Insufficient Connectivity'. What is that about?
