this has happened a couple of times after about an hour of driving where I can no longer set the Cruise control. So I pull over turn off then back on the car and things work as expected. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
I think this may reference a message within another thread but could you explain what happened? You said this has happened but there is no detail as to what this is. Are you saying cruise is turning off or some other issue?
What do you mean "no longer set the cruise control"? Do you mean 1) the cruise control stops functioning as a cruise control by cancelling itself and you end up with driving without it being engaged, or 2) you can't adjust the parameters of the cruise control, ie. top speed, following distance, etc., or 3) after you disengage the cruise control, you can't re-engage it in the way you used to do?
Sorry, I can't re-engage after stepping on the brake. Hitting "resume" does not work. Resetting does not work. Shutting off the cruise control then on will not re-engage. But after I pull over and teen car off then immediately back on everything is back to normal.
Did you notice if the LED indicator went on when you tried to engage cruise control? How about the central panel? Did the car say anything there?
What's the weather condition outside the car? If the windshield where your camera is looking out at is fogged up, it will disengage Cruise Control feature and Lane Departure Alert since the camera is needed for those features to work.
I think I've figured it out and I'll share because I don't see it called out in the OM. If you have the Cruise on and you shift into the B position. The Cruise system will not work until the car has been power cycled. It's also possible that I never shifted back into D. Seems to me though, if cruise control cannot operate in B then if you shift there the Cruise icon should disappear from the display Between the 2 owner manuals, there are over 1000 pages to read. I think that's a lot to ask for a consumer product.
You shouldn't be using B mode unless going down mountains and you keep fully charging your battery. It's just using the engine as a brake to help slow you. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
That would be a bug you should report to Toyota. That would be a "PICNIC" and thus not reportable to Toyota. "Dynamic radar cruise control with full-speed range can be set when ●The shift position is in D."
