A little help from the community. I have a Prime premium and I am having audio connection issues with my iPhone 7.
When I make a call the call connects and I can see the connection on the phone as well as the Prime Infotainment screen however there is not audio. I cannot hear the call. If I switch sources, such as iPhone speaker, the call is in progress. I can listen to music through Bluetooth from my phone on the car audio.
I have disconnected and reconnected the iPhone and it seemed to work for a bit but now back to the same problem. Any help or suggestions?

I had the same issue yesterday. I have an advanced, but the bluetooth systems are the same. I thought it was my Qi adapter that I had just started using, but it was not the case. Funnily enough, I couldn't make a call outbound, but the guy who sold me the car called me and it routed perfectly through the audio system. When I got home I turned off the car and turned it on again, and the audio from my phone's music app (iPod) started playing and I made a test call which worked as it should. I think it may have to do with the initial connection at start up. I told the salesman and he said he would bring it up to his service writers and the tech team at the dealership and report back if they heard of more than my case. Hope that it is an intermittent problem that may be remedied with next version of iOS software update.

I have an appointment friday to leave the car and they are going to investigate the issue.

Well I just picked up my car from the dealer to see if they can resolve the iPhone calling audio issue and so far no luck. They opened up a case with Toyota and they will keep me updated on what information they are told on the issue.

I have had this same issue. It happens almost daily. Today I made a call and it worked fine. I tried to make another one right after and the audio didn't work. Then I tried using Siri to make the call and after the beep, it shut down with no response. I am pretty tech savvy and have done all the resets on the phone, tried deleting the phone and repairing it with no luck. I will be checking with my dealer soon to see if they have any ideas. Please post if you find a solution. I am using an iPhone 6 with the latest iOS.

    Thanks!

Same issue with mine. Dealer said I'm the only one that has this problem. Works fine if I don't use voice commands or Siri.

I reported this to Toyota and they said:

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

We are sorry to learn about the conditions you are experiencing with the Bluetooth system in your 2017 Prius Prime with relation to your iPhone 7.

Because this Prius Prime was recently released and the Apple iPhone 7 is the newest phone from Apple, this phone has not yet been tested with this vehicle. Because of this, not all features will work between your phone and the audio system.

Your email has been documented at our national headquarters. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

    Sincerely,

    Erik A.
    Toyota Customer Experience Center

I have also provided Apple with a developer level trace of the Bluetooth connection.

My dealer said that the car doesn't work with Siri; you have to use the Toyota hands free system.

Others have reported these same problems here on PriusChat. It appears to be a known limitation, and I gather that it happens of iPhone 6s(plus) as well. I'm guessing I'll have to continue to plug my iPhone 7 in when my P.Prime arrives - either into USB or AUX (via the "lightning"->headphone adaptor that comes with iPhone 7(plus).

I haven't really made more than a couple calls from the system since we bought the car, they have all worked but I am on an Android device so maybe there is something about the Iphone. I will have to get my wife to try with her SE running current iOS to see if she notices any issues. I have noticed that audio playback doesn't tend to remain smooth. There are mini pauses in audio playback from my phone which I do not get with bluetooth headphones. We haven't tried listening to an audio book yet from my wife's phone so we will see how that goes, maybe it will be Android for phone calls, iOS for media :D.

I don't make/take a lot of calls in the car, but I have successfully made two calls via Bluetooth/ car controls (iPhone 7+, not using Siri or voice commands, both while the vehicle was parked) and received one call while driving, answered via steering wheel button. I haven't tried voice controls or eyes free Siri yet, especially because folks here on PC have been having trouble. I'll try to test over the weekend and see if I have the same issues.

I do like that it has the recent calls list from my phone on the big screen!

'17 Prime Advanced here w/ an iPhone 7 Plus on latest version, no issues with calls. Streaming music will sometimes disconnect or fail to connect, force closing the app and re-launching app often clears the issue for me. Sorry to hear about your issues

I have the exact problem but with an iPhone 6. I make a lot of calls and I'm tech savvy. It has nothing to do with it being an IPhone 7. And, those of you that aren't having the problem...it's only a matter of time.
Incoming calls are fine but making an outgoing calls is a crap shoot - either by voice command or direct dial or redial. Bluetooth is old tech - hard to imagine buying a 2107 vehicle that's supposedly high tech and not have basic Bluetooth working right. My gen 3 was better but still not as consistent as it should have been. This is unacceptable and I resent having to go to the dealer to have it explored. If you spend much time on this site you likely know more than most guys at the shop about this stuff. How do we get through to Toyota to get change?

I am having the exact same problem with my 6s. I am tech savvy and have performed all of the possible remedies I have found. My iphone OS version is 10.2.1. First phone call out through bluetooth works fine. Subsequent calls visually connect on the screen but neither party can hear the other. Also the radio or other audio does not shut off when the call is connected. Incoming calls are fine. I took it to the dealer today but they wanted to take a few hours and screw around with it without any more knowledge than myself.

Has anyone resolved this? It's been several months. At this point I am not impressed with the level of detail and support with the Prime.

Hmmm... it actually says it should in the manual.

This is how I can reproduce a problem first seen in our Gen-3 and still in Prime:
    1. Dial number on cell phone, not through car.
    2. Car audio plays but no mic.
Initiating call through car works every time.

Two things have changed and I don't seem to be having the issue any more. I thought I would pass this along in case it can help anyone. Initally I didn't have my phone set up to send text messages to the car. I activated it by allowing my iPhone to "show notifications" in the Bluetooth menu for the Prius. I have not had the problem since. In addition, Last week there was an update that the car downloaded automatically for the entune app suite. I am not sure if that had an any affect on it or not, but so far so good.

On another note, I communicated this issue with the dealer I purchased it from SF Toyota(great dealer btw), and they escalated it right away to the developers at Toyota who happened to be at a conference about the next version of entune. That was a couple weeks ago. We will see if anything comes of it.

    I hope this helps,
    Mark

I've also been having problems with my phone calls where I can't hear the other person (with my iPhone 6). I did notice that when I receive incoming calls, sometimes, it only rings on my phone's speaker at first, but by the 2nd or 3rd ring, it starts ringing over my car's speakers. If I pick up before I can hear the rings over my car's speakers, then I can't hear the caller when I pick up, but if I wait until I can hear ringing over my car's speakers, then my phone call works out just fine.

Unfortunately, I haven't figured out a way to get my outgoing calls to work reliably... so my workaround has been to text the person I want to call, and tell them to call me. kind of lame.

Still a problem with Apple's iOS 10.3 Beta 4. I continue to post feedback to them as a developer. Apple and Toyota need to work together on this one.
