Hello All, I have a 07 Toyota Prius BASE and I'm having issues with both of remote controller. They sometimes do not function at all. When I press button, I don't see the red light (car starts fine, the issue is only for locking and unlocking function). Next morning it works fine so I believe it is an occasional thing. Did anybody have similar experience? Thanks
Hello, I'm new to this, but my best guess would be the battery is getting low Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
That can also be a sign of one or more door lock actuators going bad. But I agree that the 12 V battery should be checked. And replaced if it is the original one still in there. Same thing goes for the batteries in the FOBs. If they are more than 3 years old, them might both be going bad too.
Whenever I press lock/unlock button in the car, it locks and unlocks all doors fine all the time My question is If 12 V battery is low how come the car starts with no hesitation. I just measured the battery and it was 12.1 with the light off and 11.7 with the lights on. Are they good numbers?
12.1 is bad, especially if the car has been run in the past couple of hours. Best check is after it has been off for several hours. Then, I would not be surprised to see it far below 12v Toyota Prius: How to Check the 12v Auxiliary Battery Health - PriusDIY.com The car can act up once, then be fine for a day, two days or a week or two and then act up again when the 12v is going bad. Not something you can rely on to consistently refuse to boot-up when the 12v is having issues.
NO. That does not prove that is the cause of your FOB problem but the battery needs attention.......including checking the voltage while the car is in READY mode (running).
Michigan? I'll throw cold in the mix. My remote didn't work well in the cold. Maybe it was low on battery but I had to use the mechanical key to open the door occasionally in Reno. Inside the car, everything worked fine. Back in sunny San Francisco everything worked fine.
