Sense lead wire has come off help

Hi Tony, sorry to hear of your troubles. Is it possible for you to upload a photo of the connector and the wire that has come out? Also one of plug into which the connector goes? It may help to get some context.

First remove the connector from the battery terminal. If the pin isn’t damaged you should be able to just plug it back into the connector. Even if the pin has some damage (probably in the point that holds it in the connector) you should be able to make it stay in its place.

 

From this video you can see that it’s only 2 pin connector and wire goes into the right (passenger) side of that connector. Just as you can see it in the picture that I posted earlier.

 

In a RHD (as in the UK) that would be the driver's side.

Name of what part? That connector is just part of the wiring harness and there’s no sense in replacing the whole wiring harness. The box on the battery positive terminal is fusible link block.

If the connector is the problem then you should be able to buy repair connector from Toyota dealer. Repair connector is probably just connector with short wire or two going to it. You just solder/splice old wire into it. Or you could just cut the connector with short length of wire from junkyard Prius.
Or of course you could just directly solder the wire to correct terminal of the fusible link block.
Or you can use fuse tap like this

on the place of that 5A fuse (that you can see on the dolj:s picture) and connect the wire to it. That fuse is there only for that sense wire so no problem doing it this way.

 

Like I said it’s not the separate part. It’s part of the wiring harness and there’s no point replacing the whole wiring harness. That’s why I gave you four different options on how to repair it.

 

wait, did the wire pull out of the terminal, or did the terminal pull out of the white plastic plug? many terminals can be removed from the plastic plug with the end of a paperclip. if the terminal pulled out of the plastic connector, you just need to unplug the plastic connector and stick the terminal back in until it clicks, unless its damaged and won't lock back into the plastic. if the wire pulled out of the terminal, you might be able to remove the terminal with a paperclip and then recrimp or solder the wire back in the terminal. if the wire broke off the terminal, you need to see about buying another terminal.

 

Still looks salvable. So that ads one option on how to repair it.

1. Remove white part of the connector from fusible link block. Solder the white wire to that part of connector bend the metal part so that it can stay in the white part of connector. And then just plug the connector back in.
2. Get a repair connector from Toyota dealer. Repair connector is probably just connector with short wire or two going to it. And then just solder/splice old wire into it. Toyota dealership will be able to find the correct connector if you just describe where it’s in the car.
3. Get connector from junkyard Prius. They should be able get the correct one if you just describe where it’s in the car.
4. Use this type of fuse tap:

In the place of 5A fuse and connect the white wire into it.
5. Solder the white wire directly to fusible link block. Bit tight place to solder. After soldering just push heat shrink tubing over the soldering joint.

 

I give you five different options on how to repair it.

You tried option 2 of getting the par from Toyota dealership. What did they say? Another Toyota dealer? Call them?

Maybe the option 3. Of getting the part from junkyard?

Or just go with the option 4. Just get that type of fuse tap that has place for the fuse. And you need the one for mini fuses. One that I gave you the link would be pretty much perfect.

 

if you have a junkyard nearby, just go take the connector and as much of the white wire as you can cut loose from the junk car, and splice it into your car. that's gonna be the easiest way since getting the correct terminal will take some time to find.

 

Is it safe to drive with this Sense lead cable out. On vacation and the cable came right out of the plastic clip thingy. Is it ok to drive a 2007 puirs for two days with out it probably 300 total. Till I get back to town and can get to the dealership. I replaced the 12 volt battery a year or so ago so it is not old. I don't want to damage the car.

I would be willing to fix it myself if someone can tell me how
