Just purchased my blue prius prime today. Drove into my garage and hatch hits the garage door. I've read of suggestions on using a bungee cord or tying a rope - I can't find any places to hook a cord or tie a rope in the
trunk area. Any suggestions? I don't want to change the struts and backing in is not an option since there is
    an incline to my garage.

Has anyone made this adjustment with the hatch? I looked at my struts and the first plug that is
anchoring the struts look different from the other 2 on the side of the hatch. My work around for
now is to just throw a towel on the spoiler edge so it doesn't get scratched when it hits the garage door.

That's because you supposedly move the actual strut anchor to one of the other two positions. Try prying out one of the plugs to see if the hole is threaded.

I think the plugs screw out because they have torx heads, but they look like they're made of plastic. Hard to say if Toyota meant these to be true attachment points though. Maybe the repair manual would say.

It doesn't matter if the plugs are plastic, it's whether the threading underneath it is solid metal, or some other material like plastic, or carbon fiber, etc.

If it's meant to be an attachment point, it would have to be a threaded metal insert like where the original attachment point is mounted.

Using a Torx driver, I unscrewed the other two bolts. They have metal inserts and look suitable for lowering the hatch. I couldn't loosen the arm of the support without excessive force but I'm sure once I do these other points were made to adjust the hatch.

Please keep me / us updated on whether or not changing the position the two supports is working (as this information has quite some relevance to me).
    Thanks!
